1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
Mostly gaming, occasional CAD.
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
I think if I go over $1000, the wife would be angry. Ignore tax and shipping.
3) Which country do you live in? If the U.S, please tell us the state and city if possible.
Milwaukee, WI, USA. We're going to have a MC...someday.
4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. The word "Everything" is not a valid answer. Please list out all the parts you'll need.
CPU, cooler, Mobo, RAM, SSD, shiny new case
5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
Seasonic X-650, GTX 460 (will be upgraded at a later date), 2x WD 640GB Blue AAKS, WD 1TB Black FALS (not sure what combo of HDD I'll use for media and or Steam/games drive)
6) Will you be overclocking?
Yes
7) 7) What is the max resolution of your monitor? What size is it?
1680 x 1050 22" (I keep thinking of upgrading my Samsung 226BW, but never get around to it.
8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
Within a month.
9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? USB 3.0? SATA 6Gb/s? eSATA? Onboard video (as a backup or main GPU)? UEFI? etc.
I'm not up to date on any of the new mobo features.
10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If so, what OS? Is it 32bit or 64bit?
Win 7 Home Premium 64bit
As far as the mobo features, I do major upgrades about every 5-6 years. Other than that it is occasional VC updates. I'd want a mobo that will be relevant through that time frame.
If you have a case you'd recommend, go ahead and price it in. Other wise maybe leave me with $150 of room, I know that picking a case is more of a personal preference.
Thanks.
