I am running some older hardware, EVGA 122-CK-NF68-A1 LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 680i SLI ATX Intel Motherboard , Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4 GHz Quad-Core, Antec 900 case, Thermaltake W0131RU 850W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Certified 80 PLUS Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply, WDC WD10 01FALS-00J7B, WDC WD50 00AAKS-00A7B,HP DVD Writer 1270d, 2x NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti 1gb SLI.

I would like to be able to run battlefield3/4 when it comes out at max.

I can also make it to the microcenter in columbus or order from tigerdirect.
Rebates do not matter, do not need mouse or keyboard.

Haven't built a new pc in ages as you can see by my old hardware. Just in time for haswell?:D

I can also make it to the microcenter in columbus
Are you regularly in the Columbus area for other reasons like business, friends, etc? I ask because it appears that Columbus is about an hour to 1 1/2 hours drive away from Dayton. Round trip you're looking at 2 to 3 hours assuming no major traffic. Then there's the cost of gas. So in other words, unless you're in the Columbus area for a more substantial reason, you're better off not buying from Microcenter.

The case and PSU I would recommend replacing for two reasons:
1) That case wasn't the best choice even back in its hey-day due to how cramped it is
2) You might want to re-purpose your old setup for another usage. Considering your budget, you can easily afford a significantly higher quality PSU than your current.

Some cases to look at while we wait for you to answer the Microcenter location question:
$92 - Antec 1100 ATX Case
$110 - Antec P280 ATX Case
$110 - Fractal Design Define R4 Arctic White ATX Case

You are correct about the drive and gas cost. I will probably order online as i am actually taking vacation at the end of July, perfect build time.
I really didn't have too much of an issue with cramping on the antec 900. There were plenty of mods for cable management i found on this forum. I would probably want to go with Antec Eleven Hundred Black Super Mid Tower Computer Case

Not planning on buying a display with this budget are you?
Also this is a reply to both Skillz and Danny, If i wait until after the 14th, Ill have another $1000 for this budget. I would like to also replace the display. So i will probably research, and wait for the replies here on build suggestions, order, then build on my Vacation. :) Old setup could be used to fold or entertainment on the television.

There's a closer Micro Center location in Sharonville (near Cincinnati).

But let's wait until the 14th. More money to play with is always good.

Since you are planning to spend another $1000 on this setup in about 10 days, I highly recommend you find out exactly what monitor setup you intend to go with. For $1000, you can easily get monitors with resolutions greater than 1080P which can drastically effect the GPU we recommend to you right now.

Yes i am going to wait until after the 14th. I am going to go single monitor, probably 23/25 inch region. Probably just also stick with 1080P. Ultimate goal is to run battlefield3 in ultra dx11, and be able to run future games at high quality. Never really had a high end PC and its time.

i am throwing together some ideas myself and had some questions. i have decided that i do want to eventually go SLI, and since the 680 cards and up are so big i was thinking full atx case.

Now for video cards money inst an issue to purchase one off bat right now. The second card would come later, and this where i need more advice, should i go 680?? or should i just go big with the 780, and purchase another 780 at a future point, again this build is pretty much for PC gaming, as i have picked up MANY games via steam and would like to run battlefield3/4 as good as possible. as for the new displays i have no idea whats going on with new tech on those. a new display would also come at a later point, again, gaming at 1080p. would also be using this from old build,HP DVD Writer 1270d, as i do not watch or own anything bluray.
I do understand that SLI with 680, or 780 will probably change up power supply.
So suggestions? Would the micro atx be able to hold both cards? Also would like internal wireless card.... Also dont think i will be doing anything RAID anytime soon.
