I'm currently sitting @ 3.8ghz and 12gb or ram. I just bought a GTX 670 and I have an 850 watt power supply. Can anyone tell me what the next significant upgrade for me would be? SSD or new processor and motherboard with USB 3.0 capability? Suppose my budget is above $350 but below $500.00

Get one of the better SSD for now, crucial m4 or the samsung 830 or the like 128GB+ for boot drive and a few important programs and keep the disk hard drive for media and storage. I would not upgrade that system until after seeing Haswell.

Ditto!

And if you need to have USB3, just add an adapter (one with a NEC/Renesas chip). I did this to my old AM2+ system, and wow did it wake up!
 
thanks fellas! I figured the hard drive would have to be next. After that it can be the monitor. I'm just not entirely sure what's an appropriate size for an SSD at the moment. I'm gonna upgrade to Windows 8 and I plan on playing Guild Wars 2 and Diablo 3 as far as gaming goes but not that it matters regarding boot times.

Generally, I like to go as big as I can afford. 90GB will be enough if you're going to have just the OS without multimedia/games/etc on there but if you're putting all that stuff on there too your really gonna want to be looking at a 240-512GB drive. I'm partial to the Samsung 830 series myself.
 
I just want enough for a boot drive, and a few programs other programs but no games. I will keep my current drive for games and media. I have a backup 250gb external drive for my pictures and music as well.

I'd go with a 256GB SATA III drive, that way you can take it to your next system.
 
I was in a similar situation (specs in sig) and decided to go with some old-gen intel SSD's in RAID. Couldn't be happier, SSDs make a big difference.

Get at least a 128gb. You also have an 500gb hdd. You can dedicate some of your ssd to cache your main hdd. It will be nearly as fast as an ssd.

If you want good value, still grab the 128GB versions of the SSDs mentioned earlier.
 
I just scooped up a used 120gb Sata 2 ssd for 70 bucks on here. I also have a Sata 3. Unless I'm doing big data Xfers (5gb+) I don't see much of a difference. Windows will boot 2 seconds faster on the Sata 3 vs 2... Big whoop, going from 55 seconds down to sub 20 is amazing lol. Diablo, wow, LoL, and dayz made a huge difference. A ssd is now my number 1 first upgrade... (if you look at reviews on sites you see a lot about high failure rates, don't buy Into it. When things work no one thinks abou it, as soon as it breaks they write a comment. If you want to play it safe buy a brand new ssd and get a extrended plan on it for 10-15 bucks more... I made my friend buy his from microcenter and if something happens to it they fully cover it for 3 years, they will give him a exact one or similar I just hate RMAing things)
