Upgrade GPU? Which one?

Current set up:
Q6600 running at 3Ghz
6 GB DDR 2 ram (2x1Gb and 2x2Gb)
9800 GT 512MB


I can barely run the Witcher 2 with this set up. Have to keep it to the min settings.

What is the bottle neck here? Should I upgrade the GPU? Will I get enough of a performance boost to justify the money? Any suggestions on a GPU. Thanks!
 
You are going to need more than just a GPU for modern games... Im assuming you game at 1080p. A low end i5, new mobo and ddr3 would be money better spent. Then any modern GPU would be leaps and bounds better than your setup. Time for a system overhaul.
 
That's what I fear. Hesitating on upgrading just the GPU.

2) How long will it take you to save up enough money for a new gaming PC (roughly $700 USD to $900 USD)
3) What's the max resolution of your monitor?
4) How does SteamOS affect your upgrade plans?
