Does anyone have one of these 24" 3840x2160 monitors? I was considering getting one for development work, currently I use a 27" 2560x1440 with up to 4 1080p monitors (depends on where I am).. I'd really like the increased pixel density, but I'm not sure if it will actually be usable in a 24" form factor. My text may have to be the same physical size to be readable which would mean I actually have less screen real estate to work with. I just went for Dell credit last night and they gave me $2k, so I'm grappling with buying this thing.

I feel like 28-32" would be ideal, but with the P2815Q being limited to 30Hz and the 32" version being far too much money for me to justify buying I'm stuck in consumer hell.

Opinons?
 
there are bunch of 28" 4K@60Hz monitors from other vendors for just 100$ more
 
Yea but those 28" 60hz 4ks are currently vaporware with ETAs of 1-3 months.

OP Id say hold on, hurry up and wait like the rest of us...If you want to toy with cheap 4k for web surfing an applications then get an open box seiki 39" from amazon
 
30Hz kinda kills it for me, so does TN. After going IPS 2560x1440 I don't think I could ever go back to TN. 30Hz would probably work for the dev stuff I do, but I want to game on it too so 30Hz is also out. Seems like you can't win right now :) I might order the UP2414Q and see if I can live with it, it does have a 30 day return policy, right?
 
30hz is painfull whether gaming or browsing the web. I would not recommend anything@30hz, ever. IMO I think 24" is just too small for a 4k monitor. The sweet spot seems to be around 28-31".

Im a refresh resolution whore as evidenced by the tons of different portrait eyefinity/surround/120-144hz setups that I have gone thru in the last 5 years so I'm qualified to tell you the Seiki 39" is dandy for work productivity and surfing the web....despite its 30hz. Gaming at 4k 30hz sucks, but you can do 1080p 120hz so its a pretty interesting display. I got mine for cheap ($270) because it has some dead pixels but it will be the only display on my desk until Asus releases the ROG swift & 28" 60hz 4k.
 
Yeah, I'm currently on a 2560x1440 X-Star DP2710 @ 110hz (it can do 120 but I prefer the extra uniformity even with a color profile used), and looking to go 4K 60hz soon. Problem is, IPS is a requirement to me, and the only "good" models are the 24" UP2414Q (which has the problem of almost too-high pixel density due to non-scaling apps like adobe's, I've heard) or the 32" ones that go for more than twice the price. Due to wanting to game with this as well and test with it, 60hz is a requirement.

Has there been much info about 28" or so *NON-TN* panels coming around more cheaply soon? TN's a complete deal-killer to me there. Does anyone here have experience with using the 24" Dell for productivity and gaming, and can comment on how well professional apps work (like maya, photoshop, etc.) with the pixel density? Has there been any announcement of plans for a scalable UI for PS ever yet?

I've considered a $400 39" seiki for productivity and still using my X-Star for gaming, but I'd really like to game at 4k too :p.
