so about to install untangle and instead of replacing my router, which is more than robust for my needs (Asus RT-N16 w/ TomatoUSB) I just want to use this as a transparent bridge fro the added protection.

Do i put it in between my router and my switch? or Cable modem and router? I know its a noob question.. but meh.... :)

Also if you are curious what its going on, its an older IBM ThinkCentre SFF w/
2.8GHz Celeron (400FSB, 128K L2 Cache)
1GB PC2700 DDR
40GB Samsung HDD
Integrated Intel PRO/1000 MT NIC & an Intel Pro/100 S PCI NIC

bridge would go after the router, so modem, router, bridge, switch would make sense.

but why not let untangle do the routing as well? and just put the asus as a wireless access point?

I dunno.. probably because this works, why fix something that aint broke...

btw how is gaming with Untangle?

thanks for the advice though!
