Unlucky or MB issue?

I am in the process of building my new system and I am having several issues. I have RMA’d a few parts but I’m wondering if it’s really the MB that’s the issue.

Here’s the part list:
P8Z68-V Pro/GEN3
Hitachi Deskstar 7K3000 2TB
2600k
G.Skill Ripjaws X series 2x4gb
Gigabyte Super Overclock GTX 580
Asus Xonar DX
Corsair TX750
Crucial M4 256gb SSD

Built the system. Installed windows started to work my way through installing drivers and getting everything up and running.

First issue was with the Xonar. I could not get the card to be recognized in any slot, nothing seemed to work it was as if the card was dead. I took the xonar out and moved on with the rest of the system.

Next problem was with the GTX 580. It worked fine for a few hours. I was able to install all drivers and run 3dmark 11 a few times without any problem. Shortly after that; on one of my next reboots; the VGA led went on on the MB and the system would not boot. It worked fine if I removed the card and used integrated graphics, it also appears to be working fine with no issues after I installed my old GTX 275. I RMA’d the 580.

Next problem is the hitachi drive. I predownloaded BF3 from amazon onto the drive and last night as I was trying to move the downloaded files to the SSD to install; the drive got hung up halfway through the file move and started to make a very low rhythmic ticking/clicking. I am planning on RMAing that drive as well.

Is it possible that I am just unlucky and got 3 bad parts from newegg? Or do you think that it might be a MB issue?

From all other perspectives, everythign seems to be working fine. The replacement 580 shoudl be here tomorrow for round 2.

Definately, and I'm not going to blame any packing issues.

Let us know how the new parts work out. :)

Good Luck!

Run CrystalDiskInfo. If it says a status other than Good the drive probably is dead.

Just as a followup. The replacemen 580 working great as is the replacement hard drive. So yeah, I guess I was just unlucky.

Thanks for the help!

No problem but just keep your luck on the other side of the internet.

I have enough bad luck of my own. :D

If it all arrived in the same package it is possible it wasn't packed well or was handled extremely roughly during shipping.

The originals all came in the same package. Along with some other stuff that was not damaged.

If you didn't take any ESD precautions, that may be the culprit as well. There's a lot of things that could have happened. Anyhow, glad you got it all worked out.

Possible, but not plausable and I get tired of hearing about shipping problems.
