Universal Water Cooling Block? Share your experience

It seems that a universal water block for GPU seems to be the best bang for the buck. Anyone have any bad experiences? or things that I should know?
 
Just make sure the hot parts has a fan blowing on to them.
ram sinks, and often there is some caps that needs fan cooling.
Never had an issue with universal blocks myself following the advice.
 
Nice! If Someone purchases my 6990 I will buy some tubing, block, and heatsinks for my next card. It would be really sweet to water cool if that works.
 
Never liked them. Keeping the vram cool is just as important, and most universal blocks do absolutely "nothing" here, unlike the full cover blocks. And you try to get sufficient air cooling while keeping noise levels down for those hot running, overclocked crossfire (or SLI) GPU's sitting right next to each other. You'll end up with a noisy, compromise air and water cooling setup, and then wonder why you even bothered with watercooling. As for "bang for the buck", if that's a priority, don't go into watercooling.

See that's my worry. The other question is, usually now cards come with a metal plate that covers the memory and VRMS and its separate from the GPU block. Thanks for your input, it definitely is something to consider.
 
I had great results with my xspc rasa block. Just added heatsinks to everything else. This was in a 600T at the time. Cheap and effective.
