I’m little bit confused with what I’m doing wrong with undervolt of my 12900k.

1st checked stock without any modify . I get CR23 27.4k , but temp is at mid 90 , and hit 100 sometime, watts: 241

Then I set all core to 51 , modify the offset to -.070, score at 27100, temp low80-mid 90, watts still 240

I set adaptive voltage to 1.25v and run CR23, the wattage still shoot up to 240w. And temp goes to mid 80 ~ 90. And all core run at 4.9@stock. Scores @27k

If I don’t set the voltage and limit the watts in XTU to what people seeing they are getting , (180w) , my score in CR23 is only 19k . But cpu temp is around 50

Also if I just set voltage to 1.15 , with no offset , Computer just crashes.z

What am I doing wrong ?

This is with Galahad 360 AIO

what are you doing wrong? you stopped. keeps playing with it and find the stable spot between 1.15 and 1.25. yes those are hot chips. there is a "taming it on air" thread somewhere around here that might help.

I’m still trying , but I see a lot getting 170~180 watts from people , but mine has never done that unless I manually set to it or it will turbo to 240 and stay there .. but it will lose a lot performance . Now I’m settle at 5.1 all p core, 4.0 e core , 1.25 adaptive voltage with -.100 offset . It’s stable in CR23 . Temp from mid 70 to low 80. , but wattage still 241.
But aida64 stress FPU/CPU together, package hit 97. Just stress CPU, temp at mid 50.

Idle at 20-23c.

youre mobo might be bumping up the wattage limit too, lots do, but that all sounds about right for these chips.

finally figured out , CR23 27500 @PCore 4.9, Ecore 3.9, 1.170vcore with -.050 offset . Use about 190watts , temp at low 70s, Aida stress cpu mid 50s. anything below , system not stable .

good stuff.id try to see if you can get it to settle at and even 200w and accept the temp bump. that chip wont start throttling till 100c, youve got lots of room.

I use a voltage offset of -.11 and I get mid 90's temp in cinebench 23 without throttling. With all cores running I leave the clock multiplier at 49. If I increase that I will thermal throttle. So far this is the best i've been able to do. Changing core voltage doesn't seem to do anything on my system. And changing VF locks it up and I have to clear the CMOS. So the only voltage mod I can do is the voltage offset.
Luckily gaming stays cool, generally in the 30's - 40's. And my main use case, video encoding in handbrake, stays in the 70's.

man some one needs to make a video on this stuff im so out the loop with this adaptive voltage stuff
