Tried to find the right spot to post this...but..eh

anyways...simple question.

I adjusted speedfan with the +15 to accommodate its issue with quads.

speedfan shows my qx6700 @ stock, auto settings, Zalman 6700 as this

CPU = 40

core0 = 49
core1 = 48
core2 = 44
core3 = 44

is the CPU the main temp to watch..or focus on the cores individually more?

40 seems damn high for idle at stock speeds and volts, but I guess the qx6700's run hot, but damn, I even lapped both cpu and HS today. Does it take days for the as5 to kick in?

I tried a minor oc by just upping the multi to x12 from the stock x10, which brought the CPU temp to 49 at idle.

the cores were in the low 50's.

is the CPU the main index to watch? are those temps what others are seeing?

maybe a new HS?

No the cores are the internal coretemps reported the the Digital Temp Sensors (DTS) embedded in the cpu circuitry in the actual cpu die. That "CPU" temp is BS. Some sensor somewhere on the board guessing at what the cpu is running at.

And before you ask, :D coretemp is very sensitive and accurate, just loading up the OS with all its background functions etc. will cause the coretemps to differ just depending on what is running on each core, including speedfan itself. Dont even sweat it unless the coretemps get above 80C.

Thanks for the response and education, Bill :D

Ya, seems the more I read about the qx6700, they are hawt =/

its a zalman 9700, not 6700 too.

I may take the biacth apart one more time tonight, sux that the way the zalman bracket goes, I have to take the whole damn board out to re seat the HS, and reseat and apply less as5. I used the thin line as the as site shows, but I had lapped both yesterday, so I probably should go down to a tiny rice grain size instead.
