I think the Silverstone looks better anyway, so I would vote for the SilverStone... Why not make this a poll?
 
Silverstone definitely looks better.

Antec looks nice too, but you'll have to find a matching silver DVD/BR drive (or paint yours), lest you have a nice silver front with a black drive sticking out like a sore thumb. :D Silverstone covers the drive bays so it doesn't matter what color the drive is.
 
I loved my 2480; the PSU was damn solid too (remember that you'll have to factor in a PSU with the LC17).

It's not exactly hard to snip off the drive cover's tabs, put some double sided tape on it and apply it to the drive's tray. My stealthed drives looked so much better then the LC17.
 
I dislike the whiny sound of high speed 92 or 80mm fans. And the silverstone has 5 of these running at over 2000 rpm compared to 2 adjustable 120mm fans on the Antec.

If I were looking at cases like these for a media PC, I'd also consider the Antec fusion as well which covers up your DVD player.
 
The Fusion is nice, but beyond what I'd like to spend.

btw, who has the best deals on HTPC cases?
 
Check out the nmediapc cases. I just picked up a 2000B from newegg for $109 shipped and I love it (no psu included, but just throw in an antec earthwatts and youre set). The 6000B was out of stock and i'm impatient as hell otherwise i would have bought that for the slightly better looks.
the 1000/2000 and 5000/6000 IMHO look much better than most other htpc cases out there and will blend in great with any other hometheater equipment you may have e.g. receivers
 
I have LC17-B and I love it. I got an ATX board and wanted something I can 1. run as a server, 2. play games with, and 3. watch movies on DVD/Blu ray discs. So this could be completely irrelevant information to you.

Pros.

1. It looks like NSK2480 is not as tall. I am not sure if my CPU fan (Thermaltake CL-P0257) would fit in it.

2. LC17-B has an external 3.5 inch drive, which contains some audio and USB ports. I replaced it with a SD card reader. Not possible with NSK2480.

3. I had to remove an internal 3.5 inch bay from LC17-B to make room for my video card (EVGA 512-P3-N879-AR). Not sure if this is possible with NSK2480.

4. I have 3 internal hard drives in it. With NSK2480, you're stuck with 2 internal hard drives max.

Cons.

1. Doesn't come with PSU, but I can't use 380 watt power supply anyway. The one I bought is 950 watts.


I personally like LC17-B, and it keeps my system fairly cool. CPU idles around 30 and GPU idles around 40 deg. The case came with two 8cm fans, and I added another 9cm fan to the front. There wasn't enough room to add another 9cm fan due to hard drives taking up all the space, and no room for the side 8 cm fan due to CPU fan taking up too much space.
 
My htpc (see sig) is in LC17-B. I am real happy with that case - it has made me a believer in Silverstone quality.

It is a bit tight on its depth (front-to-back) so as chimuelo mentioned he had to remove one of the drive cages for a video card. If you have a real short video card, you may be able to keep that drive cage in - but the wiring will be tight. Even without that cage, there's another, so you can get a least 3 hard drives in with just that one cage.

I've got six hard drives in mine - 2x250gb Raid1 for the boot (so if one dies my wife still gets live TV until I can get a replacement), 2x250gb Raid0 for ripping/recording to, 1x250gb for streaming live, 1x250gb for running virtual machines from (so it doubles as a test server as well as an htpc).
It has good airflow for not having the front panel ventilated. The ventilation is via slots under the front. If you use a PSU with a bottom fan, this case has a screen/filter so you can mount the PSU so that fan is getting air directly from the outside (the left side of the case).

The optical drive slot covers are basic - just a hunk-o-metal with adhesive to put on your DVD drive cover. Go slow and careful here so you get that cover aligned.

The two rear 80mm fans were a bit load for my taste, so I used a Zalman fanmate to bring down their rpm's a bit.
 
One thing to note on m-atx is that some cases have the motherboard screws pre-attached in certain positions. I got burned on this because my mobo had risers in different spots and they were not listed as permanent anywhere. I emailed Antec Product Development dept and appreciated my input... lol

so moral of story, some micro atx boards use different riser positions and Antec (as far as i know maybe other companies) have mobo screws pre-installed that wont fit.
 
I have no clue what you're talking about. I've installed half a dozen mobos into my Fusion without a single issue. For the most part MATX has standard mount holes (DFI is the only exception I can think of).

Anyways, what case did you go with instead?

Actually, he's right. I have the older version, the NSK2400, and the mounting standoffs are in fucked up locations.. plus they're pre-mounted so you can't move them. Some early Fusion models were like that as well. In relation to a standard sized micro-ATX board, it's missing the furthest motherboard standoffs toward the front (by the hard drive bay). It's kind of ghetto not having anything to screw into, but oh well. I suppose if it's that big of a deal, you could drill and tap your own mounting locations.
 
Oh, okay. Now that I understand. It never really bothered me since all the other standoffs are in the correct spot and I've only ran into one, possibly two cases that had a standoff there.
