I sent him an email too. Hopefully he's just busy, although if he can log in here he can send a PM to us too, it's not that difficult I don't think.

edit: I just realized the timeline of events here. He came in here on Dec. 4th because I PM'ed him to buy something, I paid right away and haven't heard back yet either..

UnclePauly09 just stole 500$ from me by sending me a GTX 460 instead of the EVGA 980 Ti i paid for! Will take legal action

Do you guys think i can have my money back? Through paypal i mean? I opened a dispute and everything. I'm so worried, that money was important to me.

Hope you used Paypal.

Yea, i used paypal and activated dispute, but how can paypal help me if he cleared his account? Just to make sure, i'm going to contact electronic crimes division of Ohio (that was the sending address)

Yeah, paypal is pretty good at getting your money back as long as it was sent as payment for goods or services. Looks like I got scammed too.

I got an email from her last night saying she would get on here and fill us in, but it doesn't look like that happened. She also said she got everything shipped so take that for what's it's worth.

Can you fill us in? What did you purchase? Maybe we could add all our information to make a stronger paypal case claim

Thats my question too

Your second option if paypal doesn't help is through your cc that you used to pay. They should have some kind of consumer protection. I just created a dispute on Paypal, will give seller a day, and will contact paypal to step in if seller doesnt respond. Also, make sure you post negative feedback on heatware so others dont get scammed

Should I wait to contact the cc or do it now? Because PayPal will take a while and I will have payed for by he fraud by then

I think we have a strong case considering we have the testimony of multiple people, so he/she cant just alleged she shipped the right items.

Funny, she had a (previously) perfect record on Heatware as both a buyer and a seller, and she mentioned about casinos in her Sell thread ... my wild guess is that she might've had a bad day at the casino (one of those selling your shirt to play days), and decided to "recoup" her losses by cheating out the buyers for her computer equipment ... if so, that's pretty sad.

I would doubt thats the reason, she lost some money and had to commit crime to get it back? Thats like trying to cure a cold with a cold fighting cancer giving drug.

I think someone hacked UnclePauly account and used it. If he/she did use his account to commit this fraud then its extra stupid.

Just filed a complaint at "Internet Crime Complaint Center":

Thank you for filing a complaint with the Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3)

I suggest everyone does the same.

I'd go through paypal first to see if they can help. I did this a few times already :\ The turnaround time to get your money back is fairly quick, within a week or so if user does not respond to paypal. Here's a general flow:

1. Open dispute through paypal (contact the seller)
2. Wait 24-48 hours for response from seller
3. If no response, contact paypal again, they will open a case and try to contact the seller
4. If paypal does find proof of fraud, they will reverse the transaction, you get your money back, seller will get money deducted from his account

To help with your case (and anyone else who got scammed) refer paypal to this thread for extra proof.

Finally, if paypal cannot get your money back (wait for paypal to complete their investigation), contact the CC asap.

Dang, first time getting scammed. I wish I had paid as goods and services now :/ I'm actually more bummed I'm not getting my SSD than I am losing $80.

I don't think so. I used the email found on Heatware so the hacker would have had to have hacked her email too.

by then i will have already payed the CC bill with that charge, but its fine then? Also i already used the escalate option since we have multiple testimonies of fraud, as with guy getting wrong item. I didn't want to wait any time with this process.

Yeah, i didnt gift the money, glad i didnt

If that's her Facebook, you could call the local Police Department in Maumee, OH. They can track her down. Once the cops get involved, people usually change their ways pretty fast. When I was a cop, I took a couple calls like this. Tracked the person down, had a chat, and all was resolved.

I doubt it since this is all virtual. I don't think the local police will give two craps about this.

Yeah, even if you paid the CC, they can still reverse the charge, but you'll have positive credit on your CC account instead getting the cash/money in your bank.

Wrong. Internet crime is still crime. And this involves physical goods and services. Like I said, I worked cases like this when I was a cop. And before I left police work, they were adding Detectives just for internet crime.

Edit: I didn't look up that town, but if it's some 300 person town with a 1 person police department, then they might not do anything. Any real PD or Sheriffs department will take it seriously.

Which one exactly?

Well that's good to know, thanks.

did she sell the same goods over and over?!

I though me and alex at least she firts said she had 2 980s, but i dont recall 2 ssds

we should all collect all information we have, for instance i have the paypal transaction and also PMs log.

In her original Sell post, I got the impression that she had 1 GTX 980Ti for sale, and that she was going to keep the other one as a "hedge" of sorts until Star Citizen came out.

Reading it over again, her GTX 980Ti sell sentences don't really make a lot of sense.

So I guess I shouldn't be too confident on getting my 970 GTX now. Damn. I'm going to file a dispute with PayPal.

He/She said she had a Fury X now, so decided to "sell" (scam with) both

If that facebook is actually her than we also have her workplace information, we could use that too.

I strongly suggest everyone files a claim at CC!! I already did! More than likely, his/hers bank account is empty and i don't think paypal will pay out of their own pockets.

I bought from him a SSD Crucial BX100 SSD 500GB for 80$. :( . She/he said he will ship it last weekend but i haven't hear anything from him. Yesterday i email asking for tracking number, he said he was too busy and will give me tracking number when get back home. Today i email him again without any answer so i came here and see this theard.

Fury X? That would be a downgrade IMO (due to 980Ti OC capabilities), unless she was going with a FreeSync monitor.

Funny how we got back to hardware discussion here, well it doesnt matter, maybe she created the story so she could sell 2?
Also she sold the ssd 3x apparently

yeah, i'm thinking about this too. Anyone can anyone enlighten us both on this?

dude did you check earlier heat? she bought that (palit460) card from sKiDmArK (50) in 2013

According to PayPal, I'm covered under the buyer protection program.

where will the money come from if she has cleared the account? will paypal pay me back?
