Ultima-90 Finally Available...

Good idea, but high price. The U-120 Extreme can be found only $5 more.

Right, I was pretty excited about getting one previously expecting the price to be lower, only to find that the Ultima-90 with a 120mm S-Flex from HeatsinkFactory (no better fan deal available) comes out to be 50 cents more than a Ultra-120E with a 120mm Yate from Petra's, and the Tuniq can be had for $14 less than that at SVC... decisions... I guess for me it comes down to how comfortable I feel about 1kg hanging on my mobo, and I'll wait to see a review from anandtech.

It'll probably be much cheaper once there's ample stock of it elsewhere, they're just price-gouging over there since it's the only place (afaik) doing pre-orders and some people have been waiting on it for a while.

It's still a really good performer for the price even if it doesn't come down though, just doesn't make sense to pass up the Ultra-120 Extreme otherwise (unless you move your rig a lot and want to avoid the extra weight).

Well I nabbed one from frozencpu.com

Anand has a review up,as good a Tuniq, barely behind the ultra 120 extreme, It'll be well worth to not have to deal with the sheer size of the Ultra 120 extreme or Tuniq.

I'll post pics when i get it :)

Review from anandtech is contradicting. review said that Ultima matchs or outperformed Tuniq 120 but clearlly full load chart from the review show that Tuniq beats Ultima 90
Is there any marketing involved in this site review?

There was another guy who did a review "Ultima 90 vs Tuniq" months ago and he claimed that Ultima 90 beats Tuniq. why there are so many false/contradict claim? or it is just hype?

talking about performance price ratio:
Ultima: $45 + $20 (Flex fan)=$65
Tuniq:$45

you decide which one has better performance/price

Are you kidding yourself?

Most of the people who buy Tuniq Tower buy a 120 mm fan to begin with!. Look at the size and weight of Tuniq compared to Ultima 90. With Ultima 90, you have the option of going to push-pull configuration.

I think that lots of people will buy Ultima 90 because they dont have enough space in case for Tuniq or Ultra 120 eXtreme.

If you are buying a Ultima 90 in the first place then it means that you are wanting to save money and space so why would you get a $20 fan with it? More like $45 + $4 = $49.

Tuniq tower 120 comes with a very decent 9-fin 120mm fan. I don't know why anyone would want to buy another fan to relace the stock one.

The Tuniq is probably quite a bit heavier too, I'd feel much better with the Ultima 90 hanging from my board.

Bah, 5mm too high. Looks like I might be stuck with the Scythe Ninja Mini. The freezer 7 pro sucks at cooling my Q6600.

I don't know about you, but I kind of wanted it so that I didn't have a 2lb block of metal hanging off of my motherboard.

And I don't know why anybody would pay $20 for a fan when there's cheaper and equally good alternatives. As far as the discrepancies in the reviews... Frankly, when you're talking about a difference of one or even two degrees, that's well within the margin of error imo.

I'm not denying that the Anandtech review conclusions may have been poorly worded, it's pretty clear all three coolers (Ultra-120Ex, Ultima, Tuniq) are in a league of their own though... The choice comes down to personal preference (regarding the size, etc) and/or value really, more so than performance.

I aggree with you on the margin error but these coolers are just a few degree apart. that mean if they made their conclusion based on a few degree difference, then their statement had 99% margine error?
