For all of you alternative OS types out there, the new Ubuntu 7.04 is now available for your downloading pleasure. If you want more information about running Ubuntu Linux, I recommend our 30 days with Linux article, it specifically covers the ins and outs of running Ubuntu.

Thank you to everyone who has helped make Ubuntu 7.04 a reality. Thousands of you have helped code, test, translate and promote Ubuntu and everyone can celebrate today's release.

...not yet up on their site. Beta has been out for a while of course, though the Ubuntu site says the official version is out tomorrow. Oh well.

It is on the site for me. Don't know what site you are looking at. Of course the FTPs are getting hammered. Hopefully there is a torrent around here somewhere.

Yeah, my download just ate the dust too...probably just best to wait until the servers aren't getting hammered.

Isn't there a news tidbit floating around today that Michael Dell uses this?

Shrug, I got it in about 2 minutes at 3:00 PM or so from one of the mirrors.

Well, it's the only version of linux except SUSE that will install on my system (including 6.10 versions).
Now to figure out why that when I click 'enable desktop effects' all i get is a white screen.

Just noticed that Ubuntu 7.04 is available on USENET in alt.binaries.cd.image.linux. This is a very fast way to get it.
