So my buddy got me a early copy of Rainbow Six Vegas for PC

Ubisoft has done it again people... Well for at least a very few of us... This game WILL NOT run on a 8800 Series card, just like SCDA.

Updated drivers97.44 : NO GO
Driver cleaned: NO GO
fresh driver install: NO GO
Changed IG settings: NO GO
Nivdia Control tweaks: NO GO

Ubisoft is really pissing me, and Im sure alot of other people off with this ****, I understand that only a small percent have the latest and greatest, but WTF I buy a game expecting it to work with the latest hardware.

This is like flushing 50 bucks down the toliet.....

An the fact that SCDA is still broken (POS game IMO) but they rub the salt in, buy comming out with ANOTHER Xbox port that still doesnt work....

Maybe Im wrong, maybe its Nivdia's fault, but Ubisoft games are the only issues I ever had with this card...

THIS IS JUST A WARNING TO THOSE PEOPLE WHO MIGHT WANT TO GET THIS
GAME!

:::UPDATE::::

I posted some edit .cfg files on the bottom that seem to get the game running now... sorry for the alarm but im just being cautious now since SCDA

I was look forward to that on my evga 8800gtx, dammit. Its like someones just trying to mess with me or something. I can play graw but really they dropped the ball and with graw2 already announced I've really got nothing untill Quakewars or ut2k and they don't do the snoop and poop l've loved from r6/gr games. :(

Your KIDDING no widescreen support!!!!!! Argggggggh!!!!

wish i spent 1/2 months wages on a graphics card so i could play nearly as many dx9 games as i can on my old gen card! ahem :p

Meh, oblivion maxxed out @ 22" widescreen's worth it to me.

Ubisoft, as well as EA, need to go to hell.

What a piece of shit. I have an 8800gtx and was considering buying this, not anymore.

I think its really the ports (console to PC) thats messing this up.. Im sure if its was built from ground up for PC it would have work.. IMO

Its a shame too because this game was suppose to be really good too...

I expected more from montreal ubisoft...

speaking of ubisoft, i have been replaying farcry for a while. it played fine with my 7900gto sli, but bluescreens with the 8800gts.
the pack in game - dark messiah - is ubisoft andit plays ok, so far.

::UPDATE::

Ok guys I may have found a way to fix the issue. It has something to do with the resolution... So im going to tinker with some program to force a resoultion an see if it works...

I used to have a program that forces it, but i uninstall it... Anyone have a program that can force a game resolution?

ill update in about a hour

Works for me, 8800GTS 97.44 drivers, 1280x960 resolution.

It looks awful though :( Anyone know how to enable 1680x1050?

go into the .cfg file and change 1280x960 to 1680x1050, like you would do with f.e.a.r.

It's not uncommon for new games to have conflicts with new hardware. I'm sure there'll be a patch or driver release to fix any issues.
Ubisoft could and should have made sure of compatibility before release, but they are more concerned with meeting launch deadlines.

vanilla_guerilla,
I've played through most of Far Cry without a single glitch. Looks absolutely gorgeous @ Ultra Quality, 16xAA ,16xAF.

How do you force 16xAA? In my control panel I only have 2x, 2xQ, and 4x..

I see people talking about CSAA 16X..

when i try to load from my last save point, i blue screen to a soft restart. a couple other things have been running hinky, so i will go for the clean install tonight, i havent done one since 7900gt sli, which was a few cards ago.

Ok guys the config files seem to be working ok now with the config edits....

Sorry for the inconvience an alarm, just being cautious. :)

yea i had that also, but now with the 8800, and the newer drivers (i dont know which if them caused this) i have the option to go to 16x af. i havent checked aa, because i run at 1680x1050 all max, no aa in farcry.

no i have 16X AF, but i'm talking about AA.

Game works perfectly fine for me, 8800GTS with 97.44. Looks OK at 1280x960, like an Xbox 360 port, but playable. Haven't tried SC:DA yet. FarCry works fine too. Same install from my 7600GT. I don't play tons of games (mostly GRAW, BF2, FEAR, Oblivion) but the only one that has given me issues is Call of Juarez. Which is an open issue in 97.44 so at least Nvidia is aware of it.

I still have a completely empty Nvidia Control Panel though (w/97.44) no matter what I do - modified INF, clean registry, driver cleaner, etc., short of a complete reformat and re-install, but I'm not going to do that.

whats ur avg FPS? Im telling 30ish even teens sometimes

Can we say ALARMIST?

Guys, relax.

As for widescreen gaming, it can be forced by editing the inf file or config files. I have SCDA running on 1920x1080 without any issue. With the new 8800GTX, I've picked up where I left off with my 7950GX2 and it runs like butter! It's amazing the difference this card makes.

I'm sure when Vegas comes out, it will run fine too, with an edit here and there. Nothing I'm not expecting.

In the new control panel, you should have these AA options:
2x
4x
8x
8xQ
16x
16xQ

Under AA mode, you can select "Override any application setting"

Thanks for the updated configs. 1680x1050 looks so much better! No slowdowns here.

QFT! EA's non support of widescreen modes is total and utter gayness. They are the only company that makes games that i play that won't run on my triplehead setup. I'd love to be able to play nfs: mw in widescreen glory but nooooo...

well the resoultions that the game comes with didnt work at all with my system soo I had to use the cfg files not just to widescreen game... (although its a perk :) )

this game is really great IMO alot better than SCDA usually anything montreal Ubisoft puts out is great work... China ubisoft forget about buying that crap..

NFS:MW plays just fine in widescreen - I enjoy playing it in 1680x1050 on my widescreen. Don't know about triplehead though.

You just gotta keep up with the solutions at Widescreengaming

This game is either nuts or coded poorly, but this is 1680x1050 with no AA no AF, HDR and max settings.

It can drop to 12-15fps... setup is in sig.

Oblivion @ 1680x1050 w/ max settings 16x AA 16x AF HDR doesn't even drop that low.

It plays good and looks fantastic at 12560x1600.

Well i need 3840x1024 and it won't do that. I downloaded all of those widescreengaming hacks last summer and they work but the FOV is all wacked out even with the camera hack. I really want to be able to play this game in this rez. Maybe when i said it doesn't do widescreen i should have said it doesn't do triplehead widescreen...sorry for the confusion.

Many of the games that do widescreen still have that effect that things closer to the ends of the monitor look closer than they are. There is definitely some distortion in many games. Flight simming is why i bought it anyway and it works great for that.
