Twitter just posted a notice on their site claiming that they found an issue with the "Protect your Tweets" feature on Android devices. According to the feature's help page, the setting restricts the visibility of Tweets to the followers of an account, and requires users to confirm new followers. Twitter says that "certain changes to account settings such as changing the email address associated with your account" between November 3, 2014 and January 14 of this year could disable the setting, would would could theoretically expose Tweets that were supposed to be private. They claim to have fixed the issue on January 14, and sent out notices to affected customers.

We've informed people we know were affected by this issue and have turned "Protect your Tweets" back on for them if it was disabled. We are providing this broader notice through the Twitter Help Center since we can’t confirm every account that may have been impacted. We encourage you to review your privacy settings to ensure that your “Protect your Tweets” setting reflects your preferences.

My private tweets are public waaaay too often.

And as I've gotten older they've stopped being tweets. It's a sad comment on my age when I concentrate the hardest while getting up from a chair in a restaurant.

I don't think anything is secret. His twitter account has little in the way of filters.
