I have had two hauppauge 1600 tuners in my computer for the last few years. They have been used for qam tuning and have worked pretty well. I'm considering adding another tuner or upgrading and was wondering what peoples opinions are of some of the more current tuners on the market. Any recommendations.

Without ANY hesitation...
http://www.silicondust.com/

They make clearQAM tuners (I've been using mine for about 3 or 4 years now with NO issues) plus you cna make the tuner accessible to ANY computer on your network if you want. Have done up to 3 recordings on my HTPC with no issues whatsover.

They now have a 3 and 6 tuner with the option for Cable Card! Simply no point in using anything else and their customer service is FANTASTIC.

2 years after buying mine it started acting weird - contacted them, and they sent a new wall power adapter via 2 day no charge (apparently it was a know possible issue).

ask around nothing beats them.

I'm using the Silicondust HDHomeRun 6CC Prime and I love it. I only use 1 cable card and 3 tuners for now, don't need all 6 tuners just yet. I highly recommend Silicondust.

I've heard good things about the Ceton InfiniTV 4 and the HDHomerun Prime...

I'm also on the market for a new tuner and those are my top choices.

I just installed a Ceton PCIe card in my Server and am sharing it with 2 media center PCs. So far things are working great. Newegg has had this card on sale for 219, that put me over the edge.

Same here, I have been wanting to get it but the price was just out of my budget. I received mine today, went and picked up the Cable Card, got it installed, but geting a "subscription required" on most channels.

I ran the diagnostic and it said that it hasn't been "validated" yet, I have called my cable company (Bresnan) and they have said that everything is good on their end, so they are sending out a tech tomorrow.

It took me over 30 minutes to get the card from them, becasuse the card was in "lost" status, maybe that is still the issue, we will see tomorrow.

Good luck with bresnan. You might need to get Ceton involved

All is well now with Bresnan. Sure enough since the Cable Card I got was in "lost" status, it was never placed back to active when I picked it up, even though I was told it was. When the tech came out today, he said that this was only his 3rd cable card install, and he had to call someone who verified that it was the card. I got a new card though and after a reboot everything came online. I am loving it now, had to show the kids how to use it, and they already have about 5 hours worth of recordings scheduled.

Now just to find out how to get it in the bedroom with the network tuner...

I setup an old xbox 360 as an extender for 1 of the media center PCs. So far they have shared the 2 tuners nicely.
