turntable help?

I posted this on Head-fi but I want to see what [H] has to say...

I need some guidance and your opinions on my turntable setup.

Listening gear, headphones DT-770 250ohm/Senn 595, Amp Head-Fi EF2A USSR tubes, DAC udac2 (from computer)

Music types, Classic rock(doors, zeppelin, Floyd, eagles), 90's grunge, modern alternative stuff like black keys (very broad)

I have 2 turn tables an Old Technics SL-D2 and a Numark TT200. The Technics has an older AT cartridge from the mid 90's but is still in good shape. The tt200 has a stanton 500v3.

Phono Amp, My budget is up to $130 slightly flexible.

Current preamp is some garage BBE with no gain control and it clips and won't properly ground.

Cartridge, Budget $100

I have heard a lot of good things about Grado and I'm thinking about the Prestige Green , I want good quality, but I don't want a damaging needle as some records are being borrowed. I've heard of the quality/damage trade off but not sure if it's true.

Turn table accessories. The tt-200 has an optional S tone arm is it worth it to get it?(uses a straight arm right now) Also, are wool mats helpful?

The technics has a lot noise and has a hard time maintaining pitch for a direct drive. For this reason I picked up the numark(it was direct drive and fit into my budget). The last thing I might try to to replace the RCA leads suggestions on those? I have taken it apart and completely cleaned it and also tried the stanton cartridge but the quality wasn't there. Is it worth it to save it anyway?

I'll ask this in here as well, I thought about digitizing the records I own and want to do so at 24 bit 96k. is this a good sound card to do so? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16829121120

the onboard audio can do it but there is a lot of interference. and I have to use a rca to 3.5 adapter.

i dont have experience with the grado, but i know people that like it. i like the Ortofon 2M in that price range and for the Denon DL-110 for a little more price.

ive heard good things about that pre amp. i dont have any reccomendations for you within your price range and a gain control.

Audiokarma forums also might be a better help than here or head-fi.

an ortofon 2m red would be a good match to a medium weight arm.
Audio Technica has also good offerings for the entry level budget.

If you feel the Technics isn't up to specs you might find a nice working vintage TT at a garage sale/ fleamarket. If you only want to listen to music those DJ style TTs aren't the best choice anyway.
if you like to stick with your TT id keep the straight arm if i where you.

I suggest you increase your budget a bit and buy a better phono preamp.
It will provide you with better sound and will last longer. ( since you don't need to upgrade so soon)

i thought about reccomending both of those, but the problem is i think he wants a gain control on the pre amps.
