The Tunit tower comes with a manual fan control knob. But if I plug it into the CPU fan connector on the IP35 Pro, the fan speed will be controlled there. So eventually which one will be the actual control? Thanks.
You can leave the knob on full speed and let the motherboard automatically control fan speed.
or
You can disable EIST(speedstep) in the bios and force the motherboard to attempt to run the fan at 100% and then use the knob to adjust the fan speed.
or
you can rip the knob crap out and splice the wires and let the motherboard either automatically adjust the speed or force it to 100%.
or
You can let the motherboard automatically control the speed and play with reducing it further with the knob but you might end up below the stall voltage and the fan might not be running when you think it was.
Both will still control it. So if you set the knob to run the fan at 50% and you tell uGURU to run the fan at 50%, you'll end up with the fan running at about 25%.
I don't know if it is just me, but uGURU (FanEQ specifically) seems to be having a problem controlling the CPU fan speed on my Tuniq Tower 120.
I keep the knob at 100% of course and tried to let FanEQ adjust the fan speed based on the CPU temp. But somedays out of the blue I'll notice my fan running at maximum speed and the FanEQ settings not working at all, even though they are applied.
I need to try using a different fan. Maybe the fan that came with my Tuniq Tower doesn't like being controlled by the motherboard. But for now I had to disable the FanEQ control of my CPU fan. FanEQ works perfectly with all my other case fans though. Just the CPU fan, which happens to be a different fan than the Yate Loons in my case.
