I'm trying to build a quiet gaming PC and I thought I had all the right components.

Antec p183
4 Yate loon d12sl12. 2 run at 5v and 2 at 7v
Cooler master hyper 212
6950 with a twin Turbo pro on it
Seasonic x650
WD blue

Those are all the things that make noise. Am I missing something? My machine is quite loud.

My recommendation for a quiet build is Noctua fans. My 4 year old build is still as quiet as the day I built it. With the Noctura fans you will either hear the hard drive (can be very annoying) and/or the video card…To quite them down I recommend putting sound dampening foam inside of the case. I also replaced my powersupply fan with a Noctura (voids warranty) and have a Noctura cooler.

My case is silent unless the video card ramps up.

[And yes those fans are ugly and expensive]

Did you narrow down which part was making the most noise?

If i put my ear to each part individually they dont seem to make much noise at all. The fans seems to run silent. I think it might be the HD either vibrating against the case with those rubber washers or just the drive is loud. I bought a fan controller and im going to buy a WD green to see if it quiets down.
