So, a good friend of mine is having computer problems.
Q6600 (no oc)
GA-EP45-UD3P
BFG Tech ES SERIES ES-800 800W
gtx260
Computer randomly shuts off. No bsod, no locking up, not rebooting; just shuts off.
My first thought was overheating. had him run prime95; temps were fine. Infact, had him run it all night long. No problems. Played CODMW2 for a few hours, shut off 4 times during the game.
Checked out temps on GPU; they were ok.
Ran Memtest overnight; no problems.
So, I'm begining to think that it's the PSU... possibly the mobo. Does this sound right? I'm going to bring him a spare PSU for testing tomorrow. Is there anything I'm overlooking so far?
