Hi,
I recently sold a cpu/motherboard bundle on ebay that was pre-installed in a case.
Specs:
i7 920@3.8
P6td deluxe motherboard
6gb corsair dominators
haf x 932 case
Somehow in transit royal mail managed to dislodge the two fans on the cpu heatsink, and what appears to be the floppy disk bay (even though i have never even touched this). Not sure what they did to it, but the buyer is a bit worried something has been damaged during transport (it is insured fortunately).
He is a little wary of buying a new power supply without checking the system works, so has hooked up his old power supply (Cit 500w):
http://www.aone.co.uk/ProdInfo.ASP?ProductID=2303
along with his old gpu (nvidia 7300 gs).
Whilst 500w should be enough, if you look at the link, there are two 12v rails...am i right in thinking only one of these can power a single component, therefore only having a maximum of 14x12 = 168w available for any one component?
The question is, will 168w be enough to power up an i7 920 @ 3.8 (around 1.25v)? I've seen estimates that suggest it would need more power at load....but then would it have issues even starting up the pc?
I.e is the psu i've linked powerful enough to startup the rig described (bearing in mind the amps on the two 12volt rails), or is it more likely royal mail have just broken it?
Thanks
