the system in my sig. I could never get it past 3ghz. I have since then replaced all my ram from older revision 2gb xms2 to the 4gigs and went to vista 64bit.
I felt like playing around with overclocking again, just for the headache
well i tried going lower multiplier, nothing. then I was just like for shitzngigles I would lower my ram from 850 to 800 and try to get over 3ghz. even just 8mhz over so from 8x375 to 8x376 and nothing. so I went to a 1:1 ratio, which lowered my ram to below spec speed to 376ddr and it booted. its running fine at a nice 3008mhz. anyways. Im gona try and go higher. but if I accually do a 1:1 at 400x8 with the mem at 400 like it is stock. it wont boot.
any other suggestions?
thanks

Have you tired to update the motherboard bios? if you are still having trouble overclocking the cpu pass 3.0ghz, i suspect that the motherboard is causing the problem; since you are not SLI why don't you try to look for a P35 chipset motherboard?

im thinking its the mobo also. I just need to weigh if 4-600 mhz is worth it. I doubt i'd be going over 3.6ghz ever. so.....what about memory? I can only get it up to 850
but its not high end o/c ram either. I dont think haha

i think the memory can go higher with a P35 chipset motherboard.

Bingo. That's the setting you need for stability.

Set pci-e to 100 if you can do that (lock it).
add a bit of voltage - gently - to the cpu -

what is your cooling? i dare not go past 375x8 because after that it starts to want more voltage, for the cpu and i'm just using a stock HSF.
what voltage are you at for your cpu? I am sure you'll start needing more than the stock..maybe up to 1.4V.

Memory - i believe a setting of 2T will make things more stable.

If you can add a bit of voltage to northbridge, et al, then you should do so +0.1 for all.

I run under 40 degrees at full load stock cooling at 3ghz.
I believe its all in my mobo for the reason I cannot oc any further.
I tried everything possible for about 4 hours and couldnt get anything more
