Let me jump into the topic.

Setup: 2000fp(Portrait view) + 3000fpw(Regular view) + 2000fp(Portrait view) (20" + 30" +20" all from our lovely DELL) http://www.geekzone.co.nz/content.asp?contentid=5891

Video Card: Evga 8800gtx + Chaintech P-FX20 256MB Geforce FX5200 (all monitors are hooked up to Digital connector)

Problem: When I played a movie on the 20" monitor then open up World of Warcraft in the 30" monitor. WoW started to lag (it move every 2seconds or so). When I disconnected the 20" from the fx5200 everything is normal and super fast. When I reconnect and enable the 20" from the fx5200 it started to lag again. I've try the vga connector and it still have the same problem.

Drivers: I uninstall all drivers from nvidia, boot up to safe mode and use the Driver Cleaner to remove any left over. Restarted the computer and install the 97.92 for the 8800gtx. After the 97.92 driver is install, I use the cd driver for the fx5200 to install it driver w/out updating the old files to the new (only what is neccessary for the fx5200 to work). After all the reinstalling is done. It still have the same problem.

HELP: I've try all that I can think of to make it work but all have fail. Anybody out there with this setup experince the same problem as I do? The fx5200 card work so I dont' think its the card but I could be wrong. Any help or input is appreciated.

Thank you.

EDIT: I've forgot to mention that the FX-5200 card is a PCI.

Did you try to put up your task manager while both were on to see what your memory usage and processor load was? Maybe there is a bottleneck somewhere.

Driver issue probably.. try unified drivers that are hacked from drivers specifically for 8800 series. 5200 card I suppose would be the old pci bus type?

I just did that and the taskmanager show WoW is taking 40% of the CPU. Could it be WoW?

Yes u're correct about the FX-5200 being an old PCI bus. About the mod drivers, I've been looking into that at guru3d.com. So far most ppl report back with issue with their 8800 card. So i'm assuming it didn't work and I don't want to try mod driver yet since I have bad experience with it in the past. I'll try it if it the last resort.

Isn't the FX5200 PCI E? Anyhoo, if you spent the $$$ for that many monitor, people who uses those monitor run SLI system, they don't run PCI video card. There is a tech. gap btwn. and the gap is too wide. If the machine only has 1 PCI E slot, then it's time to upgrade the machine.

Either that or play your movie on a TV from a real stereo DVD player

No, the FX-5200 is an PCI bus. I just spoke to one of the velocity micro CS today. He told me the reason it act like that is because of the pci video card. So in other word, he told me to get another 8800gxt to go with it. As you can see, I have an intel bad axe II mobo. It doesn't support SLI but it does have 2 PCI-E slot (I haven't play with SLI nor know much about it). So that mean no SLI setup for me BUT I can hook up 2 pci-e card but I don't know how that work. Someone with more experience on this please explain.

But here's another question: Do I have to get another 8800gtx for it to support the setup that I currently have without any problem? OR can I go with a cheaper pci-e card out there?
Thank you

EDIT:

Suggestion/comment: OR I can go with a different setup like 2x 30" to save me all the trouble going thru all this mess. What do you guy think?

if you are not running SLI, then any PCI E card will do. I would go w/ the XFX 7950 w/ silent pipe tech.

May I knwo why u suggested that card? Also, if I use both PCI-E slot, wouldn't it interfere with each other (like fighting for bandwidth and such)?
Lastly, wouldn't it be a waste of money to get that card since I won't be gaming on the 20" in portrait view anyway? The only thing I'm gonna be doing is watching movies, webrowsing, document, chatting etc... the 30" which hooked up to the 8800gtx is the main one where I'll be playing game most of the time. So wouldn't I be better off with a lower model of the pci-e card? Just a thought but I could be wrong.

thank you.

oh...in that way, any half decent PCI E card will do. Get the cheap 7300GS, it only $60 or so. It's not Dual link. So you can't connect your 30" on it. The small disadvantage is, if your 2nd video card is not dual link, and if there is a defect on your 30" display, you won't know whether it's your LCD or your video card.

But I do the same kind of work you do, I view movie on one screen, and do my internet text capturing and word processing on another. And I use the above card, abs. no slow down.

You probably want a 7600 series card that has 1 port DL, it's about $100 or so, and you can make use of the dual link port if we need to.

I recommend that XFX card because it's the only brand name that c/w silent pipe and 2 x Dual link DVI. So in the future, you can make use of the 2nd DL port when 30" price down below $1000
