Triple Buffering on Catalyst drivers?

Hi everyone, I'm loving my new 5870 but am curious about triple buffering on the ATI drivers. I've played around with all of the settings I can find, but never saw any mention of it.
I play everything with vsync on (tearing drives me nuts) so it's all but essential to keep my mouse from going bonkers in FPS game.
I've googled it and I just keep seeing references to drivers from several years ago.
Anyone know of a setting or registry entry to enable it in the 9.10's...or would I need a 3rd party tool like RivaTuner?

There is Triple buffering available under "OpenGL Settings" however, I think that works for DX9 also, you can give it a shot and see if it helps.

Open your CCC > Graphics > 3D > All > OpenGL Settigns > Triple Buffering

Hope that helps :)

Ah, I'll have to give that a shot. I wonder if it works in DX10? Crysis of all games is the one where my mouse is bouncing all over the place. It might be amplified a little because I have a bluetooth mouse...but UT3 works fine with it.

I'm not sure if Triple Buffering has an effect on DX10 applications, it could be a limitation.

However, just run Crysis in DX9 it looks practically the same, and has better performance.

Triple buffering causes mouse lag i think. Not sure for sure if it does it now in days though.

The point of triple buffering is to prevent mouse lag when buffering. While also preventing tearing of course.

You can't force Triple Buffering in D3D games, the developer of said game has to include it in the game's graphics options.

There was a lengthy article on anandtech discussing it.

yeah this has to be said every time this comes up. its always hilarious when people say they have turned triple buffering on from the standard control panel and it improved a DX game.

Download Rivatuner. It comes with a program called D3DOverider which will allow you to force Triple Buffering in D3D. I've been using it for over a year now with no problems.

This.

I used DXOverrider to play The Last Remnant with V. Sync/Triple buffer because it had awful shearing.
