Torchlight 2

From what I gather it's planned to release about a month from now. It would be great if they made it a little more noob-friendly, would be a good reason for me to practice more 3D modeling. :p

Game Fly has Torchlight II (PC Digital Download) for $20 - 20% with coupon code 1GFT82012 = $16

Ripped from SD.

Is it me or is the pet pathing a total suckfest? Many times when my pet returns from selling crap, he gets stuck and I have to go retrieve his sorry ass. Enjoying the game other than that. Oh yeah, the person in town that can remove the ember/gem/whatever-they-are-called and destroy the item, when you are done with one item, you get booted out of the interface window and have to do it all over again for another item. Needs to keep you in that window until you are done! (small nitpicking here)

Pretty sure if you just run away your pet should warp to you.

My biggest problem with the game right now is I only found one key for the first golden chest. Have had to pass up several locked ones because no keys dropped.

This game is GotY material to me. Tons more fun than GW2. This and Borderlands 2 are excellent and lived up to the hype imho, whereas i was majorly letdown by GW2 personally (strictly comparing games with second parts here).

This game is pretty fun actually, and actually a lot more fun than Diablo 3. Blizzard dropped the ball.

Amazing game is amazing. I'm very glad that I purchased this game, I've already put more hours into it than I did D3 and it holds your hand less and rewards players with a challenge, being able to strategist (come up with builds and following them through), beautiful multiplayer (up to 6 players vs D3's 4 and an easier to use multiplayer UI, and tons and tons of loot :D.

For my first toon I'm rolling a Outlander with a focus on maxing out Dex for maximum possible crits, dodge, and roll (I think it's roll) with dash of strength for additional straight forward damage. All with a focus on dual pistols and late game building him up to have the fastest possible pistols, and being capable of dealing out tons of straight up DPS while taking minimum amounts of damage with high armor resist and high dodge due to high dex.

Probably going to put some points into more pistol based mana spells too for additional dps as right now I have a good evade spell that does a small amount of CC (the dodge back skill).

Anyways, this game offers a ton of different build options and customization, something that was hugely missed in D3 and I loved how I was able to start out in Elite right off the bat without having to grind through the same game 4-5 times using one class just to play the hardest mode.

Two thumbs up to Runic, the true original creators of Diablo.

I stopped with BL2 and am playing this full time now.. totally hooked. :)

Is the multiplayer working? I seem to be unable to sign in so I can go online.

Figured it out. Changed pw and made it too long.

Pretty fun game. Its definitely Diablo 3 junior, but i like it a lot. Not sure how ppl who trolled D3 rave about this game so much, they are virtually identical, except you HAVE to go looking for an MP game. I did prefer the randomness of a pub in d3 or friends just hopping in and out whenever.

That being said, very very fun, ill be tossing tonso hours into torchlight 2.

For one, the loot is actually obtainable to normal players and spread out. Unlike d3 where a normal player was likely to play the entire game and never get a legendary/unique/set item drop.

The game's loot isn't built around an "auction house" and therefore the loot driven nature of the game is far superior to d3's, imo.

Also you have far more control on how to build your character and make them different then other characters of that same class.

Has anyone come up with a fist weapon that *isn't* a knuckle-duster with blades slapped on?

Make some suggestions for the graphic on their boards Tuaarita. They actually read them. Make sure you have some ideas on how you would want them to look though. Your statement would get ignored fast without ideas on how you'd like it to be changed.

That's a good idea. Maybe I'll work on some sketches :p

pretty minor there. Just pointing out, its 95% the same exact game. You cant take two steps w/o going, oh diablo.
But as i also said, its stupid fun. Just think the ppl who trolled D3 and dont troll this game are LOL.

While the games are in the same "genre", the main reasons that people troll D3 for don't exist in TL2. Runic listened to the fans when making the game. Bliz didn't cause they knew people would buy the game anyway due to the popularity of D2 and put a inferior product out to suck as much money out of their fan base as they could. Those issue aren't minor, they rob the fun from the game and only add frustration. Why would someone troll a game for being good?

And the fact that the game was 20 bucks vs 60. Oh yeah and you aren't forced to have an internet connection and/or rely on Bliz's servers to be live to play... yeah that's pretty minor to most people.

I'm only a few hours in on veteran with my 17 embermage, when is this game going to scale in difficulty?

I have about 11 unspent points in skills because I havent decided what spells I want. Besides the random my character goes where i dont want her to when i right-click sometimes, I havent had too much trouble.

Also the 3d environment seems to mess with my spells, my spells often clip on random hills and targeting down or up hills is very ineffective.

Post those issues to their forums. Runic will play attention and fix things like this within reason from what I have heard.

Found an Idiocracy reference haha.

put in a heavy chunk of time in MultiPlayer on level 25.

This game is good. Not as good as D3 in the slightest so far. But still good.

am I the only one who hasn't been able to care about the story line or quest? I try to care and follow along but I just end up going from point to point not really knowing why.

D3 would be an ok game if I didn't need a Visa Black to get gear. I like my gear actually dropping within the confines of my game play.

Played for 2 hours so far in this game. Love the pacing. These 2 hours were ten-fold more enjoyable than Diablo 3.

To what end though? Sure, it is nice to get gear playing. At least half the gear I'm wearing in D3 I've got as drops.

The thing about Torchlight 2, the whole game feels like what is the point? If gear is so easy in a week when you've been level 100 for 3 days what is going to keep you playing? Yea, all this bad ass gear drops so quickly, then what.

Mechanically, I don't like half the stuff in game, and people's answer is going to be it will be fixed by modders. Why should basic things have to be fixed by someone else?

Things are small, it can sometimes be really hard to identify what is a mob and what is just something on the ground. There is no real deliniation, which is probably because the game has an incredibly flat appearance. If you zoom in even a little your field of view starts to take a massive dump.

The map is horrendous. Why can't I move it around to make it easier to see what I have and haven't explored? Why when people in a multiplayer game move around does it not expand my map? If I fall a little behind because I was trying to look at the stuff in my bags it can be a pain to try to catch up to them.

The AI and ability clipping when you are targetting mobs to attack them is awful. Why can I just shoot my pistol and hit something, but then rapid fire clips the wall and doesn't hit it. Why if a mob is above me and completely out of range and I click it will I just stand there and swing my hammer at the wall without a prayer of hitting it.

Honestly, there are too many stats, and I really have no idea what half this stuff does. Do gems that increase electric damage actually increase my damage if I'm just shooting a pistol? Why can't I see what equiping something is going to do to my stats without equiping it?

Why can't I see certain things maintained? Like Engineers get the healing pet, but sometimes it disappears and I can't tell. Sometimes it's just out of range and not hitting me. It gets lost in mobs and I can't tell if it is just retarded and not hitting me, or got killed or something.

Holy shit, this new age of gamers makes me sad. "Too many stats and too many ways to customize my character makes my brain hurt! I need to be spoon-fed everything!" And who the fuck complains about mods?

Just got to Act 2 today on Veteran. Haven't had a whole ton of time to play, Steam says I've got 4 hours invested. Those four hours have been a blast though. I don't think this game should be compared to D3, that's just an insult to TL2-- Better to compare it against D2, the end of the Diablo series.

Got to the second area, now my magma spear is simply clipping on sand hills. Clipping on corners i understand, but in a wide open area (2d speaking) a small hill should not be stopping my attacks.

Anyone else getting the whole "I'm trying to right click a spell to attack (ranged attack), but my character just moves there instead" issue? It's kind of annoying when I'm trying to kite something that takes more than 1 hit to kill.

So what you're really saying is the game is beyond terrible? Because D3 by no means was a good game.

Yes, it's annoying as hell.

You can't read. I didn't complain about the number of stats, it's the lack of explanation of what they do. You know that example I gave of how it doesn't tell you what it does.

Nor did I complain about mods, I said people will justify things sucking based on the fact that you'll be able to mod the game, and that the game will have minimal replayability without mods.

Wow. You have to be trolling. If not, you've got to have one of the saddest existences I've ever heard of.

Great argument! Way to show how great your existence is to mankind with that amazing response. Thank you for trolling with no intelligent response. Run along home.

I know I said earlier I didnt have time but I bought it anyway and have played it. I am gettin more of the Diablo 2 type fun here than I ever got in Diablo 3. Great job on the game and for 20 dollars its glad to see Runic keeping it real :)

Yea, I got the walking animation thing too and died a few times. In Elite mode, nobody hears your screams. :)

Those ice spells need a subtle boost at low levels. I was grinning from ear to ear until after all the animations were over and the mob was almost at 100% health. Had to whip out the Magma and kill stuff :)

Remember if you think something needs improvement mention it on their forums.

Same here, it feels alot like Diablo 2 and it's so damn fun. I miss that kind of fun factor, that kind of gameplay, and Diablo 3 didn't have it for me. I stopped playing Diablo 3 after a month, same with my friends. But, Torchlight 2, I'll definitely be playing this for a long while.

Runic did a great job with this game. Now, if only their soundtrack download page worked...

Fairly certain that's how it works, it aims the spell to where you point, so if you click on higher ground it'll be aimed upwards. If you aim for lower ground it'll aim downwards, which may hit the land if it gets in the way.

And that's pretty much the difficulty of Veteran for Embermage. Elite is where it's at. Embermage's spells are OP. More so when you get Blazing Pillars, unless they changed it. Veteran is harder for Berserker though, not really hard, just harder. Especially when you take chances like I do a lot.

Is the modding stuff for it out yet? If not, do they have an ETA? Any word on using Steam Workshop?
They said they are using steamworks. And the mod stuff should be out in about a month after release date... so like another 3 weeks? Again, with runic, no definite date, just estimations.

Finally got to the second town and discovered the Transmuter guy there. The ? button says there might be hidden recipes, anyone know of any or a site with 'em? I got all the non-hidden ones done that I can see so far.

Rockin' two pistols, one that steals HP/hit and the other that steals Mana/hit.

Game has been rock solid stable, zero crashes or graphical issues.

I like how no one is actually addressing your points and just attacks you for not thinking TL2 is the best game ever.

Seriously guys? You want this thread to be a huge circlejerk?
