It's 2012 and we are still recycling the same Top 10 New Year's resolutions list that we see every year. You know the one that says "quit smoking, quit drinking, quit being fat and lazy, get your ass out of debt" and so on. What is YOUR resolution for the new year? My idea of a resolution is pledging to spend more money on better cigars, drink finer brew and relaxing more. All the better if I can go into debt doing this. :D

New Year's Eve has always been a time for looking back to the past, and more importantly, forward to the coming year. It's a time to reflect on the changes we want (or need) to make and resolve to follow through on those changes. Did your New Year resolutions make our top ten list?

My main new years resolution is to get up and walk away from my PC every once in a while; I'm going for at least once a week... NOT! never I say! No but seriously I don't think I have any but to game more and acquire more hardware. And perhaps donate something, that always makes you feel good... sometimes

spending more on beer and smokes sounds nice too, thanks for the valuable idea!

cheers

To be even more of a dick to people i see buying crap apple products or worshiping steve jobs all the way into the next year.

Mine was to drink more. I figured i'd keep it nice and easy, so far i'm keeping up my end of the bargain.

My resolution is 1440x900. I know, pretty weak. I'll try to better myself.

i got to 1920x1200 one year, went back down to 1080 the second.

hoping 2012 is the year of 5760x3600!

never again make a new years resolution. It's just another day. If I want to do or quite doing something there are 364 1/4 other days to do it.

Agreed. I guess I never paid too much attention to them. I prefer to live life one day at a time, listening to my body and mind for what I should be doing and then doing it.

I know this is a strange place to say this, but to spend less time on the computer. I can't imagine anyone, when they have passed away, thinking to themselves, "I wish I spent more time on the computer."

I agree, but it's an easy milestone for people to self-reflect on the past year and the coming year, setting out what they hope to accomplish.

Most people are not good at setting measurable, achievable goals and new years resolutions are often vague and poorly defined. Just setting themselves up for failure, but those people typically aren't goal-orientated in the first place anyway.

Not too strange, I don't think. It's fine to be an enthusiast, but I find in this day and age it's very easy to spend a lot of time in front of a screen. Using the PC or TV before work, going to work and using our tablet on the train, sitting in front of a PC for 8 hours at work, come home and watch TV or use the PC again for X hours, we don't end up with much of our time left that's not in front of a piece of a screen. :p

I do not make resolutions, but if I had to make one it would be to find a way to spend more time programming and playing video games.

I plan to finally build a new computer. For my self this time. See sig rig for a laugh.

God/Nature (depending on your beliefs system) intend to kill us all. So what the hell, the only resolution I need is to enjoy this life as much as I can :D

I don't make new years resolutions, they are just destined for failure. If you required the new year to decide to do something, then you aren't committed enough to even bother.

If I feel like an aspect of my life needs changing, I simply do it no matter the time of the year.

Let us all hope these New Year's resolutions are at least 16x9 or 16x10

:D

"get your ass out of debt" :(

...this is going to be the year of living in poverty for me. No more impulse purchases...no more car upgrades...no more fine dining, no more dinner & drinks, no more toys and gadgets...etc. I'm going to live the life of a hermit and lose my social life and come home everyday after work and do nothing but play video games with some cans of progresso clam chowder and cup o'noodles. until I pay off all my debt and save 40k. :(

My NYR is always the same: to not make any new new years' resolutions. So far, I've been succeeding.

I'm going to continue to be the best person I can be, no need for a resolution to do that!
