Timeshift Demo!

Here's my $0.02:

I have an athlon xp 3000+ and a 6600GT@550/1.15GHz, with 1.5GB of ram. I ran it OK with the detail between medium and high. I agree with the post about about if feeling "laggy". When i turn my mouse in any direction there seems to be a slight hesitation which is quite annoying and makes you feel unattached from the game. The graphics look great, it's just the control i feel is a little off. The AI at times don't seem that all intellegent, even though i did see some of the enamies hiding behind objects, other times they would just run up at me and i would just burn them to death. The demo is too short to really show you how the game will be like, so i'll just have to see how it is from the reviews. You will enjoy it for some eye candy, but from a gamers perspective, the demo gets a 7.5 out of 10.

welllll... these things are very subjective... for half the DL size, I just played The Stalin Subway demo and that looks nicer... imo... and the movement is pretty good..

i played it for 10 minutes..and uninstalled it..im not impressed...it runs like crap...lagg up the ying yang....choppy fps
1280x1024 res on my sig
not for me :(

I played for maybe 5 mins before it got whacked off my system, I have a 7800GT and with 1024x768 best detail got alot of lagging, lowered details to low and going it almost eliminated it, but still was there when going to outside enviroment, maybe something to do with the bumpmapping? At best this looks like SOFII/UT99, and coming from what games can do today, that is very disappointing :(

Hmmm...now I'm tempted to check it out to see how nasty it runs!

So I wasn't the only one getting crappy performance? No matter what settings and resolution I set the game to, it would stutter when playing on my laptop. There is no reason for the stuttering, it definitely wasn't slowdown so I'm wondering what the problem is. Either way, seems like the game isn't optimized for PCs. Figures

Killed The First Two Guys...quit And Deleted...performance Is Crap And Seems Generic/arcadish...

Not impressed. The demo took seriously 2-3 minutes max to beat. It completely froze up at one point for about 5 seconds then started moving again but the longer I played the worse the mouse lag became. Very annoying. It looks alright but it shouldn't bring my system to its knees when I can play other games that look better with no problems. Seems like a FEAR rip off.

Holy steaming pile of sh!t! Question, do these companies even realize games like F.E.A.R. exist? I mean...

-ARCADE GAME from the 90's feel
-looks cartoonish (in a bad way)
-stuttering
-ugly environments
-really stupid deaths (walk into barb wire, die)

Awful, awful game.

I thought the stuttering thing was just me.....it annoying. I agree the mouse lag is maddening.
My kids might enjoy it on the 360, but it aint worth 60 dollars, unless there's more to it.

It is disappointing. :(

I think we all agree, it needs to be shifted into the recycling bin.

OR

We need to timeshift back and not download it.

feel free to laugh at whatever one you find more witty.

I ran it default whatever settings it comes with installed on my desktop in the sig. The only stuttering I saw was during the Auto Saves. I didn't check the video settings and already uninstalled and deleted it, so I'm not going to be able to find out.

Was I the only one that got some major deja vu from this demo? Either this game already came out in another format or I have played this exact level before. Anyone know? I really don't know any background on this game, but I specifically remember the whole time shifting to get through the gate thing from somewhere.

And I thought the demo was pretty unimpressive.

I don't know, to me it smells like the unreal engine (could someone back that up?). As far as timeshifting, I think every game in his brother is trying to copy that effect after the matrix came out. Lets see, Max Payne, FEAR, now this, anymore ideas developers?

As far as the graphics, they look good, however I noticed it hiccupped occasionally on my system, while my system isn't a HUGE supercomputer like some people have, it's no slouch either.

My System:
Asus A8N-SLI
EVGA 7800 GT CO - (factory overclocked)
2 GBs OCZ PC4000 dual channel kit
AMD 3200+ @ 2.32 Ghz (I know I could push it even farther when I get liquid cooling)
2 120 GB WD SATA 8mb cache HDD RAID 0

I had everything turned off for performance, and I messed with the graphic settings, but it still hicupped a lot. With 2 GBs of RAM you'd think that it wouldn't, but it could be a driver issue, not sure yet. Oh yeah, and it did only take me 7 minutes flat to complete the level, which, I would think that it probably is a < 10 hours game. Course, I didn't see a multiplayer version yet, if any.

Has anyone noticed how Single player games have gotten shorter and shorter? FEAR took me 3 days to win. Unreal 2 took me 10 hours to win. The original Unreal took me like 30 hours to win. Kinda burns my buttons that single player-scripted games are getting smaller and smaller with every release. I give Timeshift a 5 out of 10, with 10 being the best.

Yes - it's very bubble gum for a supposed semi-serious FPS game... I could not play for more than 5 mins with the lagginess... bad!

I like it.....Id like to timeshift it back to the developers. Please redeaux.

Ugh....that was terrible. Finally got around to playing it, and can't believe how crappy the demo is, especially after playing the professionally done Starwars demo. This game is destined for bargain bins everywhere!

no doubt...

concept is cool but deliver was not...

jeez,if that wasn't a waste of an hour to d/l it.

600mb Demo and a short 5min if even level?

don't download it.

If they boosted the performance a little bit, fixed the stuttering problem, and eliminated the control problems, this game would still be a piece of shit. Ooh, they could add some more gimmicky gameplay too.

DONT DO IT.

I did kinda like burning poeple though. :D

Oh man I didn't get that far! I was def a pryo as a kid, lol!

I thought the Atari Forum post was interesting.......the guy goes and tells you stuff that should have been in the Read Me section of the original demo download.
Now they are apologizing for the bugs that they admit they knew about on release........
like I said before, it may play well on the 360 but I dont think it has enough interesting gameplay or striking enough graphics for the PC.......
just 2 cents. (I really tried hard to like the demo....honest.....I liked the flame thrower, too.)

I must say, the demo was highly unimpressive. It seemed like it would be a lot better of an idea, but it just seemed gimmicky once I got started. Controls are upsetting, to say the least. It really does have a "console" feel to it. Especially with the number of keys. I mean, WASD for movement I get. Grenade as Q, sure. But who the hell thought it would be a good idea to map E as anything other than the Use button? Every game I've played has that button defaulted to Use. It just didn't make sense. That in itself was a bit of a turnoff. I don't really go messing around with keybindings until I play a game and figure out which keys are used, and which aren't. Which requires playing. Enemies also felt a bit out of proportion to the scenery - All the enemies were pretty much impossible to see, even against a stark background, until they were nearly in melee range. Basically, the perspective felt way out of whack. The secondary grenade launcher on the rifle also felt really weird, the launch arc just felt off, like it was too high. The scenery, on the other hand, was pretty cool. They had a good thing going with it. It felt like a blend of Cyberpunk and Steampunk, the latter of which needs far more representation in games today. All in all, I'd give it a 5, maybe 6 out of ten. It could use some rethinkingon a lot of fronts. One of which would be the targetting retina. It just felt too big to really use. Not innacurate big, but the lines were too large. It obscured far too much of the firing area. At close range, it was obscuring entire heads and torsos of targets. The center was open, which is good, but they could really stand to use a minimalist approach there, and go with simpler designs.

downloading now, ill see if i like it or hate it. also getting empire at war. seen some of the making of it, hope it does not suck. they are hit or miss with star wars games. its either great or sucks.
