I'm having a problem with my thread title for the 6800GT I have for sale. I put the original price in the title, but now have lowered it and when I change the title, it doesn't change in the post. Am I missing something? Thanks in advance for anyone's help.

you can't change the title after a certain amount of time as described in the sticky/FAQ.

you can ask a mod/admin to change it for you in a PM, and they will.

The rules was changed some time ago refering to thread titles. You are no longer allowed to change them, they must only be changed by an admin or moderator. This was due to certain people using the ability to change the title in a negative way, and as a way to draw attention to the thread. Therefore, privilages were revoked and mods and admins have control of titles. You can edit the title for only 10 minutes after the original post in order to make corrections. After 10, it is for the admins and mods.

YHPM. Thanks for the info everyone. I should note that it was a good thing that you explained the why behind the rule. It makes life easier for users if they understand why functionality is in place the way it is.

I just wanted to follow up. I can understand your reasoning for this in the for sale forum, but it is really annoying when you have to change the topic of your thread. If you are disallowing this functionality, then please remove it from the front end. I can't express how aggravating it is to try to make a change and then realize that this forum doesn't allow it even though I'm perfectly able to do it through the front end.

You are able to stop people from doing things like saying **** or **** or **** by making rules. I can't see why you can't simply create a rule where people are not allowed to change the threads of their titles for no reason. Alternatively, there should be a button that brings me to a change thread title request page where I can ask for a thread title change and have it put in place. That way, you can have mods work a queue and I won't have to hunt down a mods name to pm and hope that he/she isn't on vacation.

Thanks for your help.

It's a universal setting. You can change your title all you want for the first 10 minutes, but after that it becomes an administrative function. Sorry, but that is just how things work here :)

And believe me, we appreciate that. Have you ever been to a forum where every single option is available to every single user? :shudder:

I change them all the time, PM me and I'll make it happen
wow, that is really nice. I never even considered to pm a mod for a FS/FT thread title change, since I thought you guy would be way to busy for such things :)

The Mods/Admins are not here because they are pretty :p we are here to keep the forum running smoothly and will do whatever it takes to accomplish that fact.
