Thoughts on Intel E4500?

I'm looking to get a budget dual core processor and the 4500 caught my eye. However there are no reviews or benchmarking tests found on the internet for this chip. Anyone have experience with the performance and what AMD chip this is comparable to? It Will be used mainly for gaming at 1440x900 resolution with games such as bioshock, grid and the newest titles. The GPU to go along will be a 9600GT. Advice is appreciated.
 
The chip to get in that price range is the E7200 dude. If you're going to go cheaper than that you might as well drop down to the E2180 to be honest.
 
To go along with what MrMike said, threw Newegg, the E7200 is also $10 cheeper than the E4500.
 
E4500 is roughly equivalent to an 2.6 - 2.8GHZ athlon 64 x2 at gaming. When overclocked to 3GHZ it destroys anything AMD as to offer on their Athlon 64 x2 range.

Power consumption is also lower.

But comparing to fellow intel chips, it's not generally as overclockable as the M0 E2XXX series and the performance advantage over them is quite minimal. At your budget, E7200 is your best bet. 3.2GHZ is easily doable and you can push 3.6GHZ with little voltage.
 
I've actually got one... drop it in the MB set the FSB to 1066 and away you go at 2.93GHz. Stock cooler is OK if you have a WELL ventilated case. I also have a 9600GT and with that system I played COD4 at max everything at 16x12 perfectly. Most of these chip will do 3GHz on default volts and they usually top out at 3.2 to 3.3 on air cooling. If I was buying now, I probably would get the E7200 and run it at 333FSB. The extra cache on the E4500 or 7200 really does make a big difference in some applications, so I would stay away from the 21xx series if money is not a problem. I think the E4500 or 7200 with a 9600GT is the best bang-for-the-buck out there right now. But if you can swing a little more money, get a 4850 instead of the 9600GT. In this game, you are always shooting at a fast moving target!
 
I've got one and it's great, however, given what else is available today, I agree with the E7200 suggestion.

is $5 worth it? It is in my opinion.
 
If the op is able to order from newegg and the mainboard does not support 45nm processors, then the e4600 would be okay as it is cheaper than the 4500. Otherwise I say to get the 7200.

The E4500 is also a M0.
 
I was reading some comments on some of these boards and got worried about getting the 7200 as it may not be natively supported by the BIOS until an older generation chip is loaded and the bios flashed. Is this the case with the 3 above mentioned boards> Gigabyte GA-EP43-DS3L Intel P43 Motherboard , Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3L , ASUS P5Q Pro
 
My EP35 came loaded with a BIOS with 45nm support, and that was added a couple BIOS versions ago. The P43 and P45 chipset boards should all have support for 45nm from the first BIOS revision.
