Thoughts on DIY NAS Server for Plex Media Server

Hey guys I am a looking to build a NAS home server running on Linux Ubuntu that I want to leave on 24/7 for media, music, photo, etc. files streaming and running Plex Media Server. Looking for something that is quiet, low-powered with at least a 2.4 GHz dual core and 6-8 SATA ports. Here are the components I am considering:
CPU: Asus Dual-Core AMD Fusion APU E350
RAM: Kingston DDR3 1333 4GB RAM
PSU: Corsair Builder Series CX V2 430-Watt 80 Plus Certified
SSD: OCZ Technology 32 GB Onyx Series SATA II
Case: NZXT Source 210 Elite
HDDs: 2TB WD Caviar Green

Will this get the job done or is it overkill? Any input will be much appreciated.
 
Won't have any problem with streaming.

Plex also does transcoding though (if you plan to use the -> table/phone/3g/etc. features especially) and I'm honestly not sure how well the e-350 will do at that. I would be tempted to move up to at least a H61/67 board and Pentium G620 or i3. But that's only if you plan on making good use of the transcoding features.
 
Yeah I plan to use the Plex transcoding features to stream content to a table. I will look into upgrading the board and cpu.
 
I would think that he would want to get a H67. For a bit more cash (10-20 bucks) he gets more built in SATA slots (6 on H67 vs 4 on H61) and onboard RAID support if he wants to go down that route in the future.

Something like the board below is a pretty good deal right now.

After the rebate he gets a H67 mobo for 10 bucks over what an H61 would cost. I had pretty bad luck with Asus boards in the past so I tend to be a bit jaded.

So it would look like this:

RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory Model F3-10666CL9D-8GBXL

I like this recommended build suggested by wowcro, it should fit my needs for Plex transcoding.

What do you guys think?
 
Looks fine to me - I would go with an intel or crucial SSD - and probably hitachi drives (only because I have purchased a bunch of them and had no issues) - but that's just probably duplicated from your original post.
 
Pretty much what ChrisBenn said: Intel or Crucial SSD for reliability, quality, and performance.
