Thoroughbred or Barton

i wanna overclock but my barton is not working right so i'm thinking of switching to thoroughbred and maybe get some better result maybe over 200fsbx or 12.5x200 at 1.75v with the specs below. is this a good overclocker, and what are some similiar results u can get with a 2600+thoroughbred?
 
Well might I suggest getting a mobile chip if you want to really get a great overclock. Here's my mobile 2400+

I used to have a Thoroughbred 1700+ that did 2.4 GHz, but I figured I'd just give the mobile a shot since I needed to build a second computer anyway.
 
i'm to cheap to afford an m chip but what kind of temps did u get with your thorough. with what voltages, and multipliers?
 
There are a couple of things to remember when looking at TBred-b vs Barton. The TBred-b will usually need to run 100-200 mhz faster than a similar Barton to equal it's speed. Also, I don't think they make very many Tbred-bs anymore and it may be tough to find a new one. Then again, I don't look for them since the Bartons are faster and generally overclock better. Plus they have better performance per mhz.

If you're looking for a good overclock, then your best bet is to grab a mobile Barton. I personally would not downgrade to a Tbred-b if I had a Barton. Right now I'm looking to find someone to buy my mobo & CPU so I can grab a new mobo & mobile Barton for better performance, higher overclock and probably less heat output (as long as I don't go nuts on the voltage).

I think the majority of the Tbred-b's would top out at 2.4-2.5. Right now, most of the mobile Bartons seem to be hitting in the range and other will go even higher. Add in that the Barton at those speeds will almost always be faster than the TBred-b at the same speeds, then I don't see a reason to go the TBred-b route.
 
tbreds arent good overclockers like mobile bartons, you need to get the right steppings or theres no point:

jiuhb or jiucb are the ones
dut3c is higher voltage than dlt3c so its not as good

i am using a axda1800jiuhb dut3c at 1.9v and it does 2.3ghz which is at the higher end of what to expect, but bartons have twice the external cache (512k vs 256k) so a 2.3ghz barton would rinse mine... tbreds are half the price on ebay (uk) than barton-m's though
 
I have one of the earlier bartons (non mobile) with unlocked mult's and run mine at 2600mhz.

how the hell did you get 2.5 out of it at that voltage?

I was kinda wondering that myself. That is pretty damn low.
 
CPU-Z is probabily screwing up the voltage, its set to 1.8v or abouts I'd imagine

you can get 2.5 with a really good 2500+/2600+ mobile at 1.7 volts. 1.8 for normal. my goddamn 2400+ wont stable 2.4 at any voltage :rolleyes:
 
I need 2.1v to get my 2500 to 2.6ghz

Apologies guys. I made a thread about this, actually CPU-Z is reading incorrect voltage (this threw me off too worried me)

Running 1.8v 42 C full load

what stepping? I was trying 2616 before at 2v, but it wasnt enough
