This is SO much more than I expected!!!!

I have that same board and processor. Currently I am oc, so far I got it to 2.5ghz (past 4800+), so do not be afraid to oc a little.....

I too was amazed by my upgrade. Came from an Athlon XP 2000+, 1 GB RAM, 5700 Ultra system and now to my sig and I can play everything on the maxed settings with 4xAA/16AF with my 2005FPW. FREAKIN' LOVE IT! :D :D

Take the red graphics card and you wake up in your room feeling like shit.

Take the green graphics card and see how deep the rabbit hole really goes..

You made me laugh man and it is early in the morning too. :)

Yeah. you're referring to the thing you didn't get? It should have been a dead giveaway that I was joking when I pointed to gf4-4200 and a radeon 9600

So.. wait.. the point of this thread is that you upgraded from an "antique (in computer world terms)" 533mhz fsb, 2.53 ghz, 32 bit, processor to a dual core, 4 ghz, (2 2ghz processors - so.. "4 ghz") 64 bit, 1000-2000 mhz "FSB" system and you are surprised it's faster? Oh, and you doubled the ram, too.

Wow.. So, like.. If I upgrade from my 1995 cadillac concours with a 300 hp engine to a 2006 XLR-V with a 450 hp engine (and .. about 700lbs less weight) I should be shocked if ti's faster?

This is even sillier because of the fact that it's well known that farcry can take advantage of the "enhancements" of your processor.
Unwarranted, pathetic, petty, useless piece of shit post. What was the goal of this supremely tactless blathering?

To the original poster: Grats on your new system, I am glad you are enjoying it so much.

The fact is that many times such a 'considerable' upgrade leaves me underwhelmed, since I feel like it's as slow as before.

I went From a Hitachi 7,200RPM, 8MB Cache, Ultra ATA drive To a Western Digital 10,000RPM, 8MB Cache, SATA drive.

When loading Battelfield Vietnam.. i do not notice any difference in loading. Who knows, Maybe since my computer was out of commison for 2 weeks. I forgot about loading times period. Atleast i have a raptor.. Maybe if i went for the 74gb raptor ;)

You have hit the nail on the head there. Often when I make upgrades the improvements are not as easy to see. I was expecting to be able bump things up a notch or two in game settings, not hit the roof with them. Pleasantly Surprised and Happy I am.

I Figured I would wind up with a good midrange system but this blows away my gamming expectiations. On my P4 2.53 with 512mb and the 6800, Farcry would run well on medium graphics at 800x600, no AA. I am now playing at Full speed with every option on VERY HIGH, 1024x768 and 2x AA!!! I cant beleive it!

heh, this is a great example of why AMD rocks: I can play Far Cry on 1024x768 medium with a 3000+ venice, 512 RAM and a 128mb 9600xt :)

I know how you feel ...!

I just went from a Casio calculator watch to a A64 +4400X2 w/2gigs ram and GTX SLI setup ...boy o boy ...night and day let me tell yuh'..

:p

"Game on...!"
