So, this week I built a new rig (see signature)....
I'm running my OS and Steam on my SSD, all my other programs and files are stored on the other drives.
So far, everything is a stock clock speeds.
Also not mentioned in the sig is my cooler...the Cooler Master V6, and although the reviews aren't that strong on the web for this thing, it seems to be doing it's job just fine. At stock speeds I'm getting 34c at idle, and the room is about 22c.
Next big upgrade....2TB SATA II WD Black drive....Mine's only a Green and it's SLOOOOOW. LOL
Now the SSD, that's the way to go. Windows boots completely in about 30 seconds. And I'm running 7 64 Ultimate. With 69 background processes!!! I know, that's a lot, but I figure the machine can handle it.
Anyhow, just thought I'd share...I'm quite happy with it.
