This Is BAD, AMD Basically Lies About CPU Performance

Could it be some game setting, 720p extremelly low some crowd, and paff you create a little gap for the AMD platform for some reason or the other way around where the 6600 struggle in the down low 20s and then 12% faster become a margin of error, one at 20 the other at 22-23 fps. Usually 5% or less sound like margin of error territory but lower the fps the less a percentage mean something.

Yeah, good points!

We don't know what the specifics are on the game settings, resolution, etc.

Presenting a slide which shows "up to 12%" better, is trying to claim a large performance difference. 12% is what you would expect from a very solid generational improvement. And we are talking about an AMD CPU which is 2 generations behind a 13700K. Which makes the 5800XT sound incredible.

and on the face of it, 4% is about half a generational improvement, itself.

The mental gymnastics in this thread are getting wild. The 2024 Olympics about to look like kindergarten compared to some of the mental tricks in this thread.

AMD was caught red handed lying about the performance of their old "new" CPUs. That's it, nothing else to see here or to say. No need to try look for an excuse, there is none for this sort of bullshit. Hold them accountable as has been done to their competitors when they are caught doing the same shit.

Agreed!

What people here aren't getting is that AMD is releasing these chips with obviously lying benchmarks to push tech reviewers to benchmark them to prove AMD wrong. Bad publicity is still good publicity. AMD has too many of these chips and are still trying to empty their inventory. Meanwhile if an AM4 owner really wanted the best gaming CPU, then it would be the 5700X3D which is now $200. How many people here on AM4 systems considered upgrading when AMD did their announced, especially with the controversial benchmarks? Because of this, Hardware Unboxed will be reviewing what will soon be two generations old architecture. I think people here are too outraged from what are obviously bad benchmarks that are meant to get your attention, for what would otherwise be an easily forgotten product launch. Who cares about these chips when AMD is about to release Zen5?

Brent over at The FPS Review is covering it now.

I found it on the youtube channel, haven't seen it on the actual website yet.

Edit, just finished watching his video and I have to disagree with Brent. He says they aren't lying because they are not fabricating the numbers, but in my opinion, they are lying by portraying both CPUs are equal when they know full well they are are not equal.

I think the benchmark still showcases that you don't need anything above a 5700x *65watt* cpu to pair with the RX 6600, *100watt* card, anything else is a waste of power usage trying to make it go faster.
