All I took away from that was you can buy a 5970 off newegg for cheaper than the 580 and it outperforms it in a bunch of tests and to wait for the AMD line...?

I don't know why but Tom likes to say

Its very much a justification for why the 5970 works so well in that title. With the latest "happenings" from Nvidia (The Batman fiasco etc.) you would almost have to come to the conclusion that is TWIMTBP games crippled for anything but nvidia?

Annd, now I remember why I quit reading Tom's. That whole article was just kinda pointless. They can only get power consumption and heat numbers from using Furmark? lol

I really like how HardOCP laid that part of it out. The effect on room temps was as telling as anything. Even if their other ways of measuring performance is a little hard to get to the meat of it all. Maybe if there was a way to measure the CFM's and exhaust temps at the same time that would give the best idea of how much heat a card is really producing. Or, set up a "box" around the machine and measure the ambient temps inside the 'box" to see the amount of heat being dissipated. I bet the 480SLi rig would heat that up much faster.
