none of the big retailers have any midrange 11th gen towers

even direct from manufacturer.... lenovo barely has any 11th gen towers.

i guess OEMs don't wanna bother with this short cycle?

Probably most stock going to Xeon like last time the 11209980xxxe whatever was paper launched.. Just get an AMD if anyone is daring to make them against all the subsidies.

Hard to say. It is a short cycle, but I bet a lot of cheaper OEM units are just reusing 4XX chipsets.

Not a ton of effort going into validating/designing full systems built around it, from what I've seen. People are just sticking with 10th gen.

Maybe there is some issues, because for example:
https://www.lenovo.com/ca/en/desktops-and-all-in-ones/c/DESKTOPS#type=TYPE_ATTR1

Legion tower 7i:

Legion Tower 7i

  • Potent 34L tower
  • 11th Gen Intel® Core™ K-Series processors
  • NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 30 series graphics

But when you click on it:

Power, unleashed

  • Our flagship gaming desktop pulls all the stops
  • Up to 10th Gen Intel® Core™ i9K processors
  • Up to Ampere-based NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 20 Series graphics
  • Fully future-proof your build with the Z490 motherboard allowing for expansion.
  • Optional RGB Liquid cooling

You cannot have a rtx 30 and you seem up to a 10th generation cpu has well. Costco Canada seem to have the same, 11th generation shown in the marketing but not offered once you go inside the actual offer.

If you think that's weird, check this out: Tiger Lake desktop CPU with PCIe3 instead of 4 and Directx12 instead of 12.1.

You buying an 11th Gen because of the video card?

If so, then good luck, you may not be the only one ordering them.

If not? Why not just build one, they can easily be found in stock.

igpu is part of the reason.

i wanted to test drive a full system

can't build one and return everything to newegg.

I saw a youtube video demonstrating that 11th gen uses 50% more power for 10% gain over 10th gen.
Maybe that's why OEMs don't wanna sell power hogging space heaters.

It's odd that the cpu itself is in stock, but OEMs have not updated their entire line up

getting impatient waiting for ryzen 6000 APU and alder lake.

I have a feeling Intel will fuck up Alder Lake as well, using little cores as a bandaid for its heavy power usage.
