I am looking to build my momma a computer. This computer will only be used to surf the net, play music, play Fable: The Lost Chapters, and The Witcher.

Basically I am looking to have a budget build of $200-$300 dollars (after T&S) that can run the Witcher. The minimum requirements for The Witcher are:

Intel Pentium 4 2.4GHz or AMD Athlon 64 +2800

128 MB Video RAM or greater with DirectX9 Vertex Shader/ Pixel Shader 2.0 support (NVIDIA GeForce 6600 or ATI Radeon 9800 or better)

8.5 GB available hard drive space

I may be able to come up with a Hard Drive. But I would rather just get a new one :).

You're going to be best off buying a computer from the Dell outlet. Buying individual parts, no matter how cheap, will add up too fast. For super-cheap, you can't beat a refurb/scratch&dent Dell.
 
When you say "play" do you mean on like, full settings on a decent resolution, or minimum settings...

I have a AMD 4400+ X2, 2 Gigs of 2-2-2-5 DDR RAM, an 8800GTX and a 74GB Raptor drive (granted this is basically 3 year old hardware)...and medium settings is kind of choppy.

At the very least you are going to need a ~$170 video card like a Radeon 4850 to handle the Witcher. Add RAM, CPU, Mobo, PSU (even all of this low end) you'll be looking at closer to $400.

The above build will at least run the game at minimum settings. Can't tell you what resolution it will be able to do it at but still, for a $300 budget, this is probably the best you can get.

If you can spare a hard drive, you can use the extra cash to get twice the performance:

4850 If you can spare 150$ on a video card would really help I think.
