Alright, lately I've been battling bluescreens when the computer sits idle... and also I've had bluescreens during games, and orthos failing almost immediately when it use to run forever...

I thought it was RAM, but ran multiple memtest's.. some for over 24hrs and nary an error was found, so I concluded it couldn't be the sticks. The errors revolved around memory however, and I thought it may be a bad board, or voltage problems to the MCH/DIMM... I went through the circuits manually on my motherboard with a multimeter and found several circuits low on voltage for the DIMM's... I did several other tests and concluded it was my PSU. I replaced the PSU and I had a noticable improvement.. orthos ran for much longer, but still error'ed out.

The bluescreens started to come back the next day, and again started corrupting my harddrives (lost 4 vista installs). Aggravated, I went to fry's and purchased another E6600 B2 batch and brought it back. when I went to boot the system it began giving me a ram error beep and failing to post or even power the video... I removed one of the sticks and it powered up into windows just fine... What the fuck is going on? Ever had a ram stick that is as stealthy erroneous as this?

I'm still troubleshooting too, btw... but all tests show these sticks are perfectly fine?
 
even if tests come out clean, you should still try to rma the memory because it sounds like thats the problem.

Just got out of a chat with crucial, they don't have any problem replacing the memory (shouldn't for how much I paid for it). Now I wonder just how long this ram has been holding me back.
 
I'm think we're in the same board! My symptoms are a tiny bit different but also include Crucial memory and needless RMA. My thread is HERE! Let me know if you manage to fix yours...
 
*if* it's really a compatibility issue - usually it's a good idea to try something completely different.

how's that definition of insanity go? :D
