This Mission E Concept from Porsche is pretty damn cool looking. I don't know about all that "Tesla-Killer" talk but I like what I see so far.

Is it me or does that car have 4 doors?
the warranty will be made of fuck off.
Seeing as it's a Porsche, it will cost somewhere around a cool million, it will break moments after you get it and the warranty will be made of fuck off.
Though being a Porsche, I'd expect it to last a lap on the track before running into overheating problems.I expect at least 250k but likely more, considering the Spyder.
I suppose it would command a premium being a Porsche but a Tesla-Killer it is not. Tesla can already accelerate faster with the latest upgrade and for loads cheaper probably.
Concept ... that about speaks for it's self, if they release anything it wont look anything like this; once it gets to production they will alter the concept look and backwards on design... Porsche tends to shy away from a complete over hall of their current designs.
Once they get done adding all the U.S. safety requirements, etc. It will look something like this:

Crap! that was suppose to be a picture of a Pontiac Aztek.
As a side note, the Pontiac Aztek concept car was a good looking car!

Mainstream? Yes, I'm sure everyone has the finances to spend 6 figures on a car . Call me when I can buy the electric or plug-in hybrid version of a car for the same price as the gasoline version before government incentives. The "Tesla-Killer" talk is just silly. Tesla is focused on bringing electric cars into the mainstream and they are the reason this Porsche concept exists.
I like Porsche, but I am not spending that kind of cash on a car. I might buy a new Cayman or a well used 911 Carrera. I am not spending GT3 money.

e electronic cars.
... And the GT3 is the only Porsche worth spending any money on .

Porsche are quite good at making cars that lap consistently all day. Maybe you're thinking off the Corvette? Or McLaren?
Looks as if it was designed back in the 80s, early 90s at most. Not bad but not great either.
J3RK, since you're most likely a guy, how would like to adopt me?

Tesla Model 3
I'm not sure they can pull it off put Musk is definitely aiming for the mainstream.

You apparently don't know anything about Porsche's, either.

I see it as talk from someone who's never owned one. [...]
Porsche needs to get back to the affordable days of the 944.
First, is your forum-name by any chance anything to do with "Lester the Nightfly"? Just curious.
Second, I'll admit I got a bit of a chuckle out of your post.
In reality however, their main product line has changed very little over time for the very reason that they have a formula that works. They've basically designed perfection. I honestly like the full rear-engine 911 the best of all their cars. It takes some dedication to drive well, as there's not much else like it out there. You have to do some things that sometimes seem counter intuitive (like cornering at speed for example.) I think that's part of their charm though.
That said, I also loved my front engine ones, and mid-engine ones too. I'll admit the balance of the Boxster was nearly spot-on, which made it a lot easier to drive than a 911. I really don't dislike anything they've made, (though the SUVs and 4-doors aren't really my thing...) They've also pushed some interesting new tech out lately like the dual-transmission. With all the new fancy things though, I miss the absolute simplicity of the older 911s. Air/oil cooling worked. Say what you want, but I never had a temp issue no matter how hard I drove them. They were just raw, required skill to drive, and were just a blast. I got my first 911 when I turned 19. I worked at MS at the time. I would stay late until most humans went home, and practice in the parking lot. The dealer I got it from taught me some tricks, and gave me tips on how to pull different things off. I'd practice in the rain, (which is pretty fucking crazy in an old 911 I have to say.) It took patience, practice, and I had some near catastrophic incidents. But out of all that, it was completely rewarding. It's something I look back fondly on, and can't imagine myself without those experiences. Maybe a bit sentimental, but I absolutely love those cars. I actually can't wait until I'm in the position to pick up another one. (when I have a little less kid-shuttling to do ) My wife has always liked them too, and was pretty good at driving them well.
