Some amazing setups in this thread, wow. Lots of inspiration to work with!

Anyway, saw this on the front page and thought I'd contribute as well. I'll have to shot some better pictures, but for now these should give you the idea:

Specs are in my sig (Fire), work log for the two builds is here, and the powder coating is here.

Here is mine. Did some incredibly heavy duty modding to my very old case (I've had it for 10 years now). I really love the styling of the Chieftec Dragon to this day. Now, the interior is modded to match the exterior.

This is what it looked like originally:

Rear view of of mostly finished wiring. This is after heavily modding the motherboard mounting plate, painting the entire interior crinkle black, & painting the exterior silver:

You'll note in this photo that i completely changed the drive cage mounting format. Really loving it now. They used to slide towards the motherboard & would always hit the video card & thus require removal of any installed cards. Also, at this point, all wiring is complete.

OK, here it is complete & lit up:

And here we have it with the case side back on:

Great old school case! I have two Lian Lis about as old as yours and I can't see myself replacing them.

It is great to look back to the beginning of this thread and see some of Rigs of old...back when GPU's did NOT take dedicated power, two HDD's was considered cutting edge, etc...lol. Wow, have times changed....modding was adding lights! Great stuff...

Looks exactly like my Antec PlusView II. I recently dug it out to build a rig for a co-worker. Great old case, but heavy as hell. I put a new acrylic window in. As soon as the mobo arrives I will post pics.

LOL, I just realized that after seeing your comment & checking the first page of this post that of all things there's a Silver Chieftec Dragon on the first post. It may be heavy, but it's sturdy & easy to work on. If I could find a way to install fan filters, it would be perfect for me.

i see you only have 1 dvi out from "fire" but you have triple monitor eyefinity. can you explain how this works, or were you only using one monitor when you took that shot?

Just finished this up today. It's nothing special, but I'm proud of the work. Black cable sleeving would probably help mute some of the more colorful wiring, but I guess it doesn't matter if the side panel doesn't have a window.

    Case - LanCool Metalboned K7
    CPU - Intel i7 920
Video - HIS HD 5870 Turbo
    RAM - 6GB Corsair Dominators
    PSU - 750w Corsair (Modular)
    Motherboard - Asus P6X58D-E
    HDD - 2x 600GB Western Digital Velociraptors (RAID0)
    Fans - 3x 120mm Cooler Master R4-S2S-124K-GP (Came in a 4 pack)
    Sound - onboard
    Optical Drive - None

I've decided against installing an optical drive. If I can't get the game/application through a digital download service (legally, of course) then I don't want it. If I need to burn anything, I just use my laptop. OS installed via a USB flash drive.

Just about as much as a single Vertex 2 but 7 ms vs 0.2 ms. Still can't beat capacity. Raptors are still good.

Lots of folks with pretty [H]ard rigs! Very fun to look at many of the cooling schematics. Here's my contribution:

    CPU: i7-920 @ 4.0 GHz
    MOTHERBOARD: Asus P6T Deluxe v2
GRAPHICS: 2x Radeon 4890's in CrossFire
RAM: 12 GB Corsair Dominator 1600 MHz DDR3

HDD ARRAY 1: 128 GB Crucial REALSSD C300
    Operating System, Productivity Programs, DB2

HDD ARRAY 2: 300 GB 10,000 RPM WD Velociraptor
Programs like MP3 Players, CCleaner, etc.

    HDD ARRAY 3: 2x 300 GB 10,000 RPM WD Velociraptors in RAID0
Steam Games, Blizzard Games, Games Games

HDD ARRAY 4: 640 GB WD Caviar Black 7,200 RPM
    Videos, Music, DVII Project Folder

HDD ARRAY 5: 640 GB WD Caviar Black 7,200 RPM
    Archives, Application Backups

    PSU: Antec Quattro 1000 Watts
    CASE: HAF-X, it's ginormous
    OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate

I love how the HAF-X case swallows full sized ATX boards whole.

Airflow schematics. I'm quite proud of my four 200mm fans as intakes, leaving only the H70 and GPUs as the exhaust. Designed for maintaining positive air pressure inside the case. As for the convection zones, I've done several tests, and there are definitely two separate environments in there.

There is so much positive pressure in this case, that when I hold a tissue in front of the optical drive panels, there's a gentle breeze blowing it outwards.

With the huge volume of intake moving comes the penalty of dust, which is the last thing I want inside the case, which would defeat the purpose of the positive air pressure and all those fans. How to circumvent this?

Dust filters. These are not your run-of-the-mill nets with holes in them, nor are they crappy default HAF-X filters that you could drive a pickup through. No dust is getting through these superfine medical mesh. I swear by DEMCiflex Filters.

All in all, this rig is designed to maximize air cooling while minimizing dust buildup.

... and to finish off with an arc[H]itectural shot of the interior:

What is that thing that covers the cables in front of your PSU? Like a cover and looks like your psu is longer than it really is

Thats a feature of the HAF-X case. It is part of the zone control and cable managment. Its basically a sliding plastic cover attahched to the case to cover cables.
