12 x WD400Gb = 4.8Tb

I've used about 3Tb

Nothing is raid, I use them for my video editing. 20Hours of Raw BetaCam footage (about 50Gb an hour) and 120Hours of DV Footage (13.5Gb an hour). So, yeah, i kinda liek harddrives, until i got this system, just about 2 days ago, i had all this stored over about 3 machines. I'm using a Thermaltake Armor with a 12 x sata card and i bought 6 5.25' - 3.5" converters. I got about 4 extra plugs for another 4 hardrives aswell.

Anyway, if you ask questions about this rig, i may not reply seeing i will probably forget about it.

Im going to swap the diamondmax to a 300GB MaxLineIII, or possibly o seagate .9 drive, in a couple of weeks. The 200GB seagate will eventually also be replaced.

Yea i now im gonna catch crap about my cable routing but there was not a whole hell of a lot i could do. the cables were very stiff and i had very little space to work with. if i had custom length cables it might not have been a problem.

All in all its a great file server for only $2500. 3TB of space, very impressive read and write speeds, five year warranty raid edition drives, best of all it is dead silent. i cant hear it at all. plus another bonus all drives are externally accessible via hotswap enclosures.

My old server was 5.19tb... I'm busy creating a bigger one.... starting all over with more space than ever before.... wait for pics :)

I have 6 Seagate 400GB Sata drives (7200.8) in Raid 5 for 2.0TB
It is on an Areca ARC-1130 controller. This is a 12 port raid card so I have 6 free ports for future growth.

This is all I got..

Just that pic coz I think it'll be an eyesore for the TB hardcores to see the images of 5 250g USB drives...:D:D and I just noticed now that I get a bit more space from maxtor than wds and long live the Floppy!!!

Media Server: each drive is a seperate share (no raid), just in case it needs to be removed or fails. It is much easier to re-rip a few DVDs vs all of them! (over 200 so far and the wife buys a few every week).

archive.jpg

CM Stacker
Pentium D 820
Supermicro PDSGE
Broadcom BC4852
8 x 200GB Western Digital
Tagan 480W PSU

All running RAID 5

At some later stage I will add a second controller to span the array over 16 HDDs.

Promise sx6000 with 5 wd2500jb's (storage) + 60gb 60gxp (system) - still waiting for it to die just like the 3 75gxp's before it (been 3 years now tho)

I'm hoping it'll all still be arround after tonight (drive blew up in the middle of another drive rebuilding - YIKES!) One way or another, I'll never be able to live with less than a TB again now :)

See This thread for details

I like to think of it as "the incoherent set of drives that were on sale at the time so on a whim I rationalized a reason to buy them, though in retrospect it probably wasn't the brightest move..." Well, except for the Raptors - that purchase was a rational choice :)

No RAID, at this point

Off the motherboard (ASUS P4P800 SE):
2 x 74GB Raptors (one OS/apps, one for game installs)
1 x 400 GB Seagate PATA (ST3400632A)

Off of a cheap/freebie Maxtor PCI Controller card:
1 x 200 GB Maxtor SATA (6L200M0 - the card came with this drive)
1 x 400 GB WD SATA (WD4000KD)
1 x 300 GB Maxtor PATA (6B300R0)

Total advertised space: 1,448 GB

Intel SE7210TP1-E Mobo

Celery D 2.8

3ware 7506-8

8 x 300gb RAID-5

Maxtor MaxLine II's

~2.1TB before formatting

Raid 5
LSI MegaRAID SATA 150-6
6x300GB Seagate SATA drives, Raid 5'ed 1.5TB, formatted I get about 1.3TB

http://www.devii.org/images/fs3.jpg - wire job
http://www.devii.org/images/fs6.jpg - showing the front coolers(2x5.25 to 3x3.5 drive cage + fan), have 2 drives in each, 80mm fan blowing inward on them.

First uber clean wire job, and it happens to be on a file server >.>

rig sits in a closet doing its job of keeping a safe archive of media for HTPC, XBOX 360, and network streaming.

RAID Controller: N/A

Single Drives:
1xWestern Digital Caviar RE WD4000YR 400GB

It's a media storage server running with an A64 3000+ (as seen in my sig). It hosts my house's collection of movies and television. Right now free space is less than 10%. No pr0n. ;) Glad to be a part of the club!

Another machine just joined the TB club :) MiniGalaxy. Weighing in at 1496.4 Gigs :)

My file server:

RAID5
Highpoint 2220
8x Seagate 7200.8 200gb SATA drives

RAID1
Intel 478 socket - Server Mobo onboard controller
2 x Samsung 160GB SATA drives

So thats ~1.4TB + 160gb for the file server.

I got 10 other drives - spread between 4 other system for a total storage at home of ~3.2TB.
