odd.. that photo wasnt there the other day o_O

EDIT: oh, its "untitled.jpg" looks like they overwrote it LOL

Finally, i can post here, 6x320gb SATA 2 Seagates, i am going to put them in raid 5, and i have a SCSI 15k boot that is 36gbs and a 320 seagate IDE, so i should have close to 1.8 terabytes after being put in raid and formated!!

Here you go. This isn't counting the main drive, and I'm trying to put everything I've done over the last decade on it as far as video/multimedia is concerned.

My wife cried when I told her how much space I was going to need to fit it all, and I painfully underestimated :( Oh well, time to shop around for some cheap drives now that these are going down.

RAID5
3Ware 9500S-12
Four Hitachi Deskstar 7K500 500GB (Advertised) SATA Drives
1.46 T formatted
98% Consumed (Time for another array)

3 WD Caviar RE2 WD5000YS 500GB in Raid-5 on an ICH8R controller (in an 3 bay IcyDock)

1 Western Digital Raptor WD1500ADFD 150GB Boot Drive, on the ICH8R as well

1 Samsung Spinpoint P SATA-2 250GB on the ICH8R

Total storage 1.32TB. And to think, I still say "megs" sometime when refering to drives (heck, I've got a 40meg external drive for my mac plus that's bigger then an imac in my closet somewhere) I should take it out so that my new tiny corsair 8gb memory stick can laugh at it. BTW - I'm sure there's something wrong with how I set this system up - criticisms not taken personally.

My home system finally reached 1TB as shown below. At work we are buying an array of well over 1000 TB, i.e. 1 Petabyte for a contract we are working on. I can't say what it is used for except that it is related to homeland security. The array is obviously not inside the PC (the array has its own room), but it is all available for access by one PC.

1 - Western Digital SE WD5000KS 500 GB Sata
1 - Maxtor 6Y250MO 250 GB Sata
1 - Seagate ST3120026AS 120 GB Sata
1 - WD1200BB 120GB IDE

Ok it's 990 GB not 1TB but I rounded off.

All except the 500 GB are a little long in the tooth, the 500 GB is going into my new Conroe build along with a Raptor.

The WD5000KS is the fastest and least noisy of the 4. I would go so far as to say the WD is the least noisy drive I have ever heard.

I guess it is fair to say:

8 WD 250GB SATA drives - 2T total

2 are in a RAID 0
6 are mirrors on various dates.

All for 18GB of real data.

Does a server I just built at work count? :D

It's got an 80GB boot disk, 1.5TB RAID-5 array, 900GB RAID-5 array, and another Seagate 750GB for good measure. Total unformatted is 3.23TB and formatted it is 3.008TB.

Best part was my boss let me build it in a Lian Li V2000... hehe.

The Three 400gb hd's i ordered from Fry's came in today.
Put me over the 2tb mark : D

I'm going to rebuild that pc in the near future (replacing the generic rackmount case with a new antec quiet rack.

Using onboard sata adaptors and a Promise ata 133. Performance isn't the goal, merely mass storage as it's not access on a 100% basis.

Define how 3.33TB gets backed up on a 0.3TB disk ;)

I don't back up anything I can easily replace. Just docs, & real life important stuff.

Doesn't count because it's external, but it never leaves this box anyway, so it may as well be inside - eSATA II 400 GB Seagate - 400 (379) 1520 (1431)

I also have 2x40 and 2x60 USB laptop HD's in 2.5 external cases but these don't count either, and they move around with my laptops. I would love to shake the person's hand that came up with the idea of USB powered cases for old laptop hard drives. They are an absolute godsend for laptops and the file deletion challenged (like me, for instance, that still have saved games and Diablo 2 characters from 2002, but cannot seem to run a system for more than 6 months without having to do a format due to upgrades or running out of disk space).

I've been very pleased with this motherboard. A great number of options, and I still have 1 SATA connection that isn't being used.

EDIT: Nope the 400GB doesn't count anyway, because I did move it once I got my ExpressCard eSATA controller :). Now I have 2 SATA connections that aren't being used, so I could pop in another pair !

Hi people i need some help.

i dont know if i am in the right forum but since this is a terabyte club i was hoping to get some help...

I have a 3ware 9500S 12port. i have 7 - 500 gig drives all same brand, size, etc.
i am on windows 2003 sp1.
drivers are latest for windows and 3ware.

my problem is when i go and migrate a drive in for Online Capacity Expansion. it adds the drive to the raid but in windows it just makes another 500 gig drive.

so i have made a unit at 1.3 raid 0, then when i go to migrate to add a drive without losing data i end up with 1.3 TB and 500GB drives.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to why this is happening.

Now i know i can create all drives at once and get a bigger drive but i dont have that option without losing data. thats why i am doing OCE.

any help is appreciated.

Yeah...Wrong thread to request help. No idea what your problem is.

My system -

3 Seagate 7200.10 400gb SATA2 drives in Raid0 for Drive C.

2 Western Digital 250gb SATA2's as my backup in Raid1 for Drive D.

Disk space - 1.7Tb
Configured space - 1.45Tb

I used to go to a LAN where they had about 10 10tb in-house servers. They specially built them all, they took mid towers, cut the innards out of them, took steel and, with blueprints, cut holes in them to mount hard drives, and are able to mount about 22 hdd's in a mid tower case. :O
