The Force Unleashed 2

Yeah, I'm not supporting games with 4hours of gameplay. No matter how good the rest of it is. $5 max at the bargain bin, if even that.

Isnt it only a 4 hour SP campaign? Should be enough to dissuade anyone from wasting their money on this.

I've heard that its somewhere around 5-6 hours. Game length should almost never be a deciding factor on buying a game. Sometimes a game being short works in its favor. I've played long games that are boring as hell and short ones that are great and worth the experience. TFU1 wasn't a terribly long game either, but it was worth going through. TFU2 being short I'm calling a good thing because it means I don't have to play it much longer to be done with it and being done with that game is going to make me happy.

Yes it should be, its determinative of the value of the game. Why would I waste $60 USD for a pathetic 4 hours of entertainment when I could pick something with significantly more entertainment value.

Length shouldn't be that big of a factor in value. WoW is like the longest game ever, but I think its boring as fuck. So in that case why the hell would I buy it over a shorter game at the same price?

30FPS lock no more..Enjoy 60FPS if your rig can handle it..

love the enemies animation, its sooo fluid, particularly the robots

if you finished it in 4hours, you probably played it on easy

play it on hard, it will last a lot longer and sections will actually challenge you

Amen, $50 for 4 hours of gameplay is a huge no thanks.

Well if you keep catching the same bug over and over you will have unlimited play for $50 because you will never be able to advance in that level...

so you're saying i'm not capable of doing the intelligent thing, which, in that situation, would be choosing not to play?

I base my buying decisions on not just game length, but the QUALITY of the game.

I'll give an example, Metal Gear Solid was a short game, you could beat it in 3 hours if you skipped every cutscene. But your first playthrough would be 10-12 hours.

You wanna hear about quality in a short length of gameplay?

the Metal Gear Solid demo had more quality gameplay in it than most full release games.

I was being sarcastic and trying to make light of a game breaking bug TFU2 has that pissed me off to which the only solution LucasArts can offer is "restart the level".

Yea , 4-5 hours of game play from the single player is a big let down. Seriously Lucas Arts thats completely unacceptable. The chief complaint about the last game was length but this one there is a laundry list of issues (weak story , short game , no co-op , no MP of any kind , lousy acting/voicing).
:(

The console guys are happy to drop $60 for the same 4 hours of game play with less eye candy. Lmao, fools.

I'm pretty sure they could rent it? what's your point? even if they did buy it, they could easily trade it in

In regards to the thread 4 hours is pretty damn short even at my age

Alright... just beat it, so here is my story-line spoiler-free review... See my rig specs in the sig line.

Gameplay-
Fun, but no better than TFU1. Things seem to move faster and once you max out your sabering ability, the flourishing goes crazy, and looks really nice. The bad guys are largely of the same variety as in the first game (standard storm troopers, jump troopers and snipers), with a few extra droids added in. HOWEVER, that being said, there are FAR fewer types, and they don't vary depending on the world like in TFU1. You fight stormtroopers, ATATs and some droids. That's it. No biologicals of any sort.
Also, there is basically one boss fight mid game (WHICH IS EPIC)and then the final boss. That's it. In the first game, you had to beat a series of various Jedi with varying abilities and boss-scene environments. Here, no such luck, just a series of arena areas filled with baddies you fought for the previous hour or so.

Also, you start with (or gain VERY quickly) ALL of your powers, and upgrading them does not do much. In TFU1, you added three different categories of abilities, each with a slew of components. Here, all combat abilities.powers, and there are about 9 total. Saber upgrades are essentially the same as in TFU1- Then you had 1 saber, two crystals. Here you have 2 sabers, each with one. As a result, there;s really no such thing as an optimal build, though I recommend mind control and sabering plus lightning.

Story-
SUCKS ANUS. Seriously, the story is the worst ever. Period. Look, the first TFU had one of the best stories of the year when it came out. The characters were interesting, there were quite a few, and they all begged you to become emotionally invested in them. Here, there are two characters; you and Koda. That's all. And Koda somehow went from being the camling influence over Starkiller in TFU1 to a maniacal retard. Vader spouts typical lines with no real *umph*, and Starkiller, while well voiced again, has repetitive, uninteresting dialog. Mostly because the story is ridiculously simple and unimaginative, so the character has nowhere to go.
Oh, and I beat the game in about 5-6 hours. That includes a second run -through the final level to get both endings and a 30 minute stint on the first challenge, which was stupid.

Graphics-
TONS better over TFU1. There's AA and AF settings as well as a few other PC-centric settings that are very nice. Leave Vsync off if you want the cutscenes to be watchable. Given my above review of the story, you might imagine that I am talking about graphical watchability, not content watchability. You would be right. They are bugged with vsync on.
ANyway, reflections are better, water looks nice, and the lightning effects are SICK indoors where it can be all over the walls etc.
HOWEVER, given the nice graphics, IT'S AWEFUL that you are essentially in two environments for any real amount of time. The Kamino levels looks like the spaceship levels, and the floating planet level looks similar only brown. Yo go to Degobah to watch a cutscene.

The bad guys are well rendered and react in lifelike ways. Mixed groups use decent tactics, especially the force users, whose abilities' appearances are well done.

My biggest gripes about the game, graphically, came near the end. First, there were some Vats (you'll know them when you see them) that were supposed to contain figures. The figures were 3d. The tans around them were not. They were a 2d sprite that floated behind the figures with bubbles running bottom to top. When you moved, the 2d sprite rotated around behind the figure. Awful.
ALso, on the floating planet, inside, there was a lot of smoke/dust/clouds. Also 2d sprites.
Just terrible, and inexplicable, even on a console port.

At least there is AA, so no jaggies.

My advice for ANYONE, ven die hard fans of SW or TFU is to wait. Given the crappy quality, I don't think you will have to wait long for a good sale, but for the love of god don't pay $40 like me. Biggest mistake ever. On the other hand, buy the first one if you have not. You'll get twice the gameplay (easily more) at a fraction of the price.

I just finished this game as well, and yeah, it was kinda short. I was expecting it to be the same length as the first one, and the storyline was kinda disappointing and the ending didn't make too much sense to me. Mind me, that its not the worst ending I've seen, it left me hanging with answers.

Length doesn't bother me, as long as I'm having fun. I rarely finish titles anyway. Also, the time it takes me to complete a title is always more than double what it took the quickest person to finish.

The number I'm seeing here is four. Translation. Twelve hours at least.

To put this into perspective, I never finished Modern Warfare. It was supposed to be four hours long. Uh, yeah, so why after twelve hours was I still playing it. Same deal with Arkham. Oh my god, it's only ten hours log, people screamed. Thirty hours later I still haven't finished it.

I dont normally care about the length of a single player game, generally even if a game is really long I wont be able to stay focused and enjoy myself for more than about 20 hours. It'd have to be a really good single player for me to stay focused for longer that... probably why I never got into Oblivion/Morrowind/Fallout 3.

But when its below 5 hours then I start paying attention. 5 Hours isn't a lot more than a night's gameplay and I can think of other ways I'd spend $40US for a night's entertainment. Might pick this game up when it goes on sale for ~$20.

EDIT: Just noticed this doesn't appear to be on sale on steam in Australia at all and in retail shops its around $80AUD... fuck that for a joke. I could buy 2 slabs for that, lol.
