The Face Behind Bitcoin

Because big banks need all the help they can get and should not be forced to compete?

Or because the US government has the moral right to impose a competition-free currency to its subjects?

Because I despise Right Wing Libertarians and their whole "I got mine, screw everyone else, no one one ever gave me a damn thing, so I don't owe anyone anything" belief system. And Bitcoin is a RW Libertarians wet-dream come true.

When I see RW Libertarians right here in the Hardforum defending the idea the they should be free to discriminate against anyone anytime they want, because of private property rights, I am disgusted some people actually want to be able to turn the clock back 60 years.

Read my sig for a quote from Senator Elizabeth Warren for a start. Here's another from her:

Sen. Elizabeth Warren: 'We are not a country of anarchists'

I'm not going to quote it because it's too long. But if I can make one person POTUS in 2016 it would be Elizabeth Warren.

RW Libertarians are like Anarchists and Communists. All three want their perfect ideological system, but can't accept that it will never work. So they blame people for the failure of their ideology.

Perfection is unobtainable, but that doesn't mean you should give up and not pursue it. You can always get better. You can always be more free. Simple as that.

Welcome to HardForum, the only tech community with gleeful luddites.

guys, give it up

I have spent countless hours trying to make these people understand and it is just a waste of time. You can not educate the willfully ignorant. And Bitcoin is not some fragile flower we need to nurture. It is a seething event horizon we have already crossed.

It quit bothering me when I realized that, unlike, say, the flat earth or creationism, continued belief in the fiat system will have very real costs for these folks.

Leave them to their buggy whips.

I don't think bitcoin is dumb for tech reasons. From a tech standpoint it's pretty cool. As an investment professional my opinion is that it is piss poor as a currency and pretty useless as a commodity since it has no intrinsic value. All the people defending it because they made money need to hit a casino. I won three grand at the borgata last month but that doesn't make roulette a good investment.

Because I despise Right Wing Libertarians and their whole "I got mine, screw everyone else, no one one ever gave me a damn thing, so I don't owe anyone anything" belief system.

I never understand why people boast about their bigotry. "Hey, look at me! I hate people who I disagree with! I'm special!"

LOL, holy shit. If only you could bottle rhetoric and sell that.

If this is actually the guy in question, taking a picture of his house while not bothering to Photoshop out the license plate... to a guy that's worth half a billion dollars, and has no private security is beyond irresponsible.

Also, the "article" read like a grammatically correct forum post, not exactly the standard that I would expect from a publication such as Newsweek.

California Vehicle Code section 1810 allows you to complete a firm (INF 70D/70R) to request registration information about a vehicle. There are rules and fees, and the person will be notified that you asked for the information.

Whats untenable is the required assumptions our system requires.

The presumption the government has a higher claim to my property than I do.

The presumption that the government has a moral superiority on any issue.

The presumption that the federal reserve prevents asset bubbles by deliberately causing malinvestment.

The presumption that government has the right to put people in cages for carrying the wrong kind of vegetation in their pocket.

The presumption that government must protect people from trading what is rightfully theirs, with those who want to trade with them.

The presumption that violence committed by the state is justified because of bad morality or habits by individuals.

The presumption that theft through government proxies is "representation", not violence, and that it pushes society forward.

The presumption that we have a moral obligation to obey the arbitrary commands of the corrupt archons. The presumption they have the right to rule us.

That, to me, is far more dehumanizing than the desire to keep one's own money by those who wish to be left alone.

So Bitcoin has someone who predictably appears in every possible thread to defend it just like Windows 8/8.1 has a certain someone doing the same. I like it!

Some people just might despise you too buddy.

I skimmed part of the article, so I'll sum it up for you:

"I found this guy's name and started stalking the fuck out of him and harassing his family."

Follow that up with a lot of creative writing to fill in the gaps.

Let me add to that:

"Then I took a picture of his house and posted it on the intertubez."

Holy shit, that is so profound that I am smh at how utterly cliche it appears.

Coming from someone who cares very little about bitcoin, this made me vomit. Thanks for the extra pound mate

Thia last page has certainly opened my eyes. If I read correctly the bottom line is the government sucks, fiat currency's suck and bitcoins suck. Everything is going to crash at some point yet bitcoins will survive the eventual apocalypse. I think I'd rather stock up on guns, food and build a fall out shelter than huddle in a corner with a thumb drive full of bitcoins. Just my 2 cents. I'm out as its to hard to argue with the fanatical.

I've always assumed it was a pseudonym.

Hopefully its really him so we can criticize his personal life, an entire new proxy of bitcoin hate, equally rational to the rest.

Ya it sounds ridiculous that he would keep it all so secretive then just use his real name online lol?

bottom line:

some people like competing options and free markets

some people don't like these things, but have no problem with those that do.

some people don't like these things or want people to have these options at all.

Don't forget your category:

-Some people like competing options and argue incessantly with people who are trolling them to get them excited to the point of being in a frantic, defensive tizzy.

I'd say it's been a pretty civil back-and-forth between the two for the most part.

I think what is being overlooked is that introducing multiple currencies create an impediment to conducting trade in the long run. I'm sure there are already several bitcoin clones. And after a while which one is going to be the one of any value? Free and open trade breaks down.

We have currency laws that go way back because the ability to improvise a currency upon whim in the long run ruins economies. Unless you want to go back to barter, you need a reliable proxy for exchange. Improvised currencies out of thin air aren't conducive to that.

Disagree. I'm not just talking crypto, this could apply to the swiss franc or whatever else.

The threat of competition needs to exist for any dominant currency at all times. Issuance and acceptance are two separate things, and the regression theorem applies to anything originally thought of as a commodity.
