PDP is not the same.
Wow. I paid way less for my BH-5...Jasonx82 said:OCZ 1gig pC3200 REV 2 LOL I paid 360.00 first week it was available at newegg.![]()

Yes, winwithme's score is low because he's running 5tRcd, to achieve 360MHz, but that kills bandwidth. The other guy's 330MHz 2.5-3-3 (same timings as your silly PDP at 200-something-something) would have killed it, if he wasn't running it in s754.Kueller said:The bandwidth does not impress.

That would be 7552mb/s/7449mb/s in sandra and 8033mb/s in everest...on PDP.

exacltly why my vote went to the g.skill pc4800iddqd said:1 in every 200 chips is binned for pc4800GBLA.
iddqd said:EL3700 Platinum is binned for higher speeds, so the 3200 is actually the worst TCCD OCZ has (and 3700 is best).
iddqd said:The process is called "speed binning", silly. 1 in every 200 chips is binned for pc4800GBLA, and one in every 40 is binned for pc4400GBLE, and so on, so forth. Why EL3200 Platinum Rev.2, though? EL3700 Platinum is binned for higher speeds, so the 3200 is actually the worst TCCD OCZ has (and 3700 is best).

Yes, EL3200 Platinum Rev.2, EL3700 Platinum and EL4200 Platinum all use Samsung TCCD chips. 3700 used to be the cream of the crop. Only the 3200 version uses Brainpower-brand PCB. That particular PCB was developed with a joint effort by OCZ and Brainpower. It features built-in resistors inside the PCB (so you won't have to populate the surface with them) and OCZ's signature EMI-shielding layers. OCZ makes their own PCB for 3700 and 4200, and arguably it's better, or just as good. It also has shielding.burningrave101 said:What OCZ Platinum versions use Samsung TCCD chips? All of them?
Do they all use Brainpower PCB's?

The OCZ PC3700 Platinum is listed under the ones that use Samsung TCCD chips but it doesn't show it having a Brainpower PCB.

iddqd said:Probably not. Samsung chips (including TCCD) have on-die current regulation circuitry. These particular circuits are called "stabilitron"s. I can't remember exactly how a stabilitron works, but It's a very simple device, similar to a diode. They will only work for current of a specific range.so they might just be speed-binned by Mushkin.

1. Heatspreaders are useless at best. They do not significantly increase surface area to aid teh dissipation of heat. Unless you attach them with a good thermal compound (AS5, Shin Etsu), they are actually impairing normal heat dissipation (no heatspreader). Even aluminum substrate tape doesn't conduct heat well enough. It's also full of air powers, which are very poor conductors of heat. It's like putting a warm winter jacket on your RAM.burningrave101 said:I wish their memory came with heatspreaders on them.
