Plenty of game threads, skimming through them most seem to be single player...

So, lets list what games you think are worth owning that have online play for the PS3?

I just sold my main gaming rig, so now all i got is a PS3 to satisfy my gaming needs, for now, but i love playing online!

CoD4 still has a great player base

can't go wrong there

Demon's Souls is definitely a VERY challenging game

read the editorial about it, it's been posted on this site a couple times, simply the greatest literature i've ever read about a video game in so few words!

I should recommend Valkyria Chronicles if you want a REALLY good game to play :)

MGS 4 of course if you don't have it

why don't you list what games you have?

How does demon's souls play out online, is it like diablo where your in a party?

Games i got are
  • Tekken 6 - I think i need a joy stick to really enjoy it!
  • GTA IV - but cant get it to work
  • little big planet - cant seem to get into it, or i am just bored of having to play the first maps to get to know the game
  • NHL 10 (the EA one)
  • Dragon Age - started to play it, will likely play more now my gaming rig is gone
  • Clank and Rachet future

I am thinking of buying tonight

SF IV - since i loved it as a kid and it is only $28
WWE Raw VS Smackdown 2010 - people say it is amazing and i love a good wrestling game also i could be having more guys nights at my place so some good multiplayer games will do.

Possibly need 4 speed shift, i need a racing game!

but if demon's souls is online i may get it instead.

COD4/MW2 probably has the largest online community
Killzone 2
Street Fighter IV
(Possibly) Uncharted 2

MGS4 online play was just terrible IMO.

didnt know uncharted 2 had online play! forgot i had that game..lol another one i got to spend some time on to get use to the controls.

Uncharted 2 MP is surprisingly good. Demon's Souls. Wipeout HD was pretty fun, but I don't know how active it is anymore. GT5 I believe will turn out to be one of the best online games. In the most recent interview, Kaz said they put a lot of effort into it, a dedicated team handled it, there will be clubs and all the stuff that's been lacking from past GT online experiences.

ya i cant wait for GT 5!!!! thinking i will skip NFS Shift and wait for it, if i can.

warhawk, will check out and killzone as well.

since i sold my gaming rig i figure i got about 3-5 games i can buy tonight :)

Now to find a good steering wheel, is the logitech gt one worth the $110 ?

Metal Gear Solid 4 (Metal Gear Online)
MAG beta is pretty cool. Not out yet.
Little Big Planet is supposed to be great.
Buy Valkyria Chronicles if you like Strategy RPGs and/or anime even a little bit.
Demon Souls (Game of the year, PS3.)

only difference is the packaging

you don't lose out on anything by gettin the Greatest Hits one I don't think

at $20, MGS 4 is a STEAL :)

buy buy buy

Uncharted 2 should be at the top of your list

do a forum search for Demon's Souls

someone posted that editorial a guy on reddit did, and oh my god

i gopt Uncharted 2 already :)

i will grab the MGS 4 for sure then.

Little Big Planet is supposed to be great.

i dunno, i just dont get it? what is the appeal i am missing?

LBP is a lot of fun if you are into platformers and puzzle solving , I think the sack boys are hilarious .IMHO one can not live by killling others online all the time variety is a good thing. MAG will be awesome if the time spent playing in beta is an indication.

Am I missing something or did Valkyria Chronicles get patched to include MP and I wasn't told?

Uncharted 2 has INCREDIBLE multi-player, I would heavily suggest that.
MGS4 has great multi-player, not bad at all really.
Demon's Soul has great intuitive multi-player that is really in a league all its own.

Not sure which of the ones I'll list are still good, but they at least were at one point or another: (in no particular order)

Warhawk
LittleBigPlanet
Killzone 2
Fat Princess (when in a populated, i.e. botless, server)
Uncharted 2
GTA IV (some races only)

Demon's Souls is 'online' but isn't really that interactive. I don't think MGO is worth it.

Resistance 2 is a lot of fun online. Good co-op and teamplay modes. LBP is fun as well, but more so with people you actually know.

Battlefield Bad Company 2 beta would have been your answer if it was still up and running :(

Unfortunately now you have to wait until March to get the full game, which in my opinion, based on playing the beta, this game will be the best on-line FPS available for the PS3.

huh?

Been playing a little WarHawk. The ground combat eats nuts, but the flight is pretty cool. Hard to get used to that jet though, but when you're flying full tilt it does a great job of conveying a sense of speed :)

MGS4 online is pretty much dead. Not sure why people are suggesting it and VC they are good game but as far as I know VC isnt online and MGS4 online is dead.

My vote is for uncharted 2 I am having a blast playing the online for it. It really amazing me how well the online is for being tied with a strong single player. Since most of the time one or the other will suck.

If you are looking for online co-op, both Army of Two games contain some solid fun.

Resistance 2 has some of the best class-based co-op on the system. The Co-op is actually completely separate from the main game. Its a set of almost completely original missions and maps. Unfortunately it is stuck in the quicksand of a progress system that forces you to complete each stage SEVERAL TIMES before you can go on to the next. Barring that, its every bit as good as you might have heard.

UTIII might be dead....but it was good.

I think most people have mentioned everything else.

and again, Bad Company 2 drops in March, as long as something insanely bad doesn't happen between now and then, it will be the best competitive multi-player game of 2010 for each system its on (PS3, 360, PC). I seriously can't believe how much better the alpha coded beta was than BC1, and also how much better it was than just about everything else in general. Battlefield is back to exercise its throne.

Street Fighter 4 plays wonderfully online. Compared to the somewhat shaky online play for the Tekken series, it's easily the best online fighting game. HD Remix is also wonderful online, but that community has probably been distilled down to experts only these days.

cant say i have any issues with tekken, at least not that i have seen, but i do get alot of people canceling a game cause guess they dont see my ping as good enough
