I mix manufacturers all the time and as long as your settings are right for that specific card it doesn't matter. The main issues seem to be steady power related when you have several high end cards in the same thing. My 6950's average 425-450. I was thinking the 6970's should be a good chunk above that.
 
Im running them at -i 19. Get right around 500 with -i 20 but it crashed a couple times so I leave it one down.

yeah I've noticed sometimes I need to back down to 17 even. I wonder if at this point CPU becomes a concern when you have a ton of cards. The system is just unusable so i haven't been able to check resource usage
 
Middlecoin is a pain in my rectum and i get high rejects even on the EU server, but the payouts are still much better for me than mining LTC so i just deal with it.
 
isn't it possible to figure out what middlecoin is currently mining by looking at the current difficulty and searching for it on coinwarz?

I bet it's possible.

Its very possible and cgwatcher sometimes tells you. They added the feature not that long ago but it doesn't appear to support DOGE and some of the newer ones but its dead on for old coins

no, cgwatcher :) I use cgremote for monitoring all of my machines and cgwatcher on my windows boxes. I've messed with PHP monitoring but its just not as good.
 
OMG!! DOGE is pissing me off, it hasn't moved up all day. They really must be controlling it. This is nuts...
 
PenguinCoin is being released tomorrow. Yet another coin for me to mine at low difficulty and hope it goes DOGE.

The odds are stacked against any and every coin that tries to emulate DOGE.

For sure. But the brief moments that can make them up to 5X more profitable than LTC make them worth looking into. If I get in on release day and the launch looks good, I'll usually do a full hash 12-24 hour run, then go back to whatever I was mining previously.

The huge BTC buy wall against LTC, is supposedly gone now, or at least the bot running it claimed to have gone.

So in theory it should slowly go up now over time. We shall see. Would be nice but I think damage has been done.

I RMA'ed an older MSI 6870 a few weeks ago, got it back in the mail today. They sent me an email saying they would replace it with a 6870 O/C card. Of course I was hoping for a 7870 card or better, but when I opened the box, there was the 6870 sticker right on the back. To my surprise when I slapped it in my machine and booted up, it reads 7870 XT Pitcarn. That was nearly 5 hours ago. I've been sitting here trying to get this stupid thing to push out over 300KH/s now all night. This has to be the biggest PITA card I've ever seen. Any intensity above 16 and it starts throwing HD errors like crazy. TC I've moved from 8k to 24k and the GPU clocks I've moved from 825 to 1100 with zero improvements. I'm about at the end of my rope here.

7870 XT and Pitcarn can NOT exist in the same sentence together. If it's a 7870 XT it's a Tahiti LE chip, not a Pitcarn chip!!! Whatever you do absolutely do not try to flash any BIOSes on it until you are certain of what chip is on it.

For starters, I was unaware that ever MSI made and Tahiti LE based cards... so I'd be inclined to believe it's Pitcarn.

How many shaders does it report? What is the stock GPU frequency?
 
Unfortunately its been quite a pile of crap so far. :(

Best I've got out of it is 340KH/s, which isn't much better than the 6870 I traded it for.


Oh and my second 6870 died tonight as well. I firmly believe the MSI fans are complete shit. I've RMA"ed every MSI card I've ever owned I think.

Not a lot of manufacturers have quality fans. The majority of them use sleeve bearings in their fans. Sleeve bearings are known to be quieter than ball bearings, but they wear a lot quicker.
 
Wow, these 7950's undervolt something fierce don't they?

Has anybody played with the optimized scrypt kernels? I'm getting about 15Khash/s faster hash rates with them then the regular kernel.

I use them on my 7970's and yes they help a ton

I tried but haven't been able to make mine run at 1.09V stable. Right now 1.131V which is still shy of the 1.250V they came set at stock. I'm OK with it as they are though since they're still able to run with my OC on them. I may attempt to play with them again at some point, but the way things are going, I'm going to replace them with R9 280X's eventually anyway.

As for kernels, I assume you're talking about Linux kernels?
 
my TF3 7950's are running at ~670kH/s each and 1.08v using the lantis bin files.

Supposedly if I custom mod the bios files I can get them down to 0.962v, but haven't tried yet
 
OK guys.... question for anyone who uses Dogehouse.org... I just started using them again and they are MUCH bigger than they were when I first tried them... are they now sometimes slow on auto payments?

My pool account has now doubled my autopay amount and it's still not paying out. Thinking about doing a manual payment just to spur the process.

Some brands yeah. Some brands, nope. I guess it is how cherry picked the gpus are.

Those kinds of kernels seem to crash my cards like once every 12 to 24 hours.

And by the way, you don't need to replace the bin file, it is just a matter of replacing the scrypt*.cl file, I have no idea why people run someone else's bin when cgminer just builds one for you (plus it is dangerous, virus could be in a bin)

There's two types of kernels... the .cl are the code kernels which will be compiled by the GPU on startup of cgminer the first time and create a .bin file for the particular GPU and load it. Then there's precompiled .bin files which you just drop into your cgminer directory.

AFAIK Lantis never handed out his .cl files - just the .bin ones are in the wild.

Middlecoin annoys me too -- seeing my 4.5Mhash chugging along just fine on a DOGE pool and then wake up to see that 100Ghash has been dumped (on top of the usual 80-90Ghash) onto the network causing difficulty to double or triple.

I understand difficulty goes up -- but to go in and trash a coin with network power and then do a disappearing act for 8 hours, only to return again and repeat, pretty seedy in my opinion.
 
Not only is middlecoin annoying with the indiscriminate pointing of massive hashrate, they liquidate the coins immediately which floods the market and prevents natural growth.

Well after the 14th this will all change, at least how they abuse doge, it will no longer be the most profitable after that - well unless the price also doubles but it won't
