Pretty cool looking prototype for people walking around Silicon Valley campuses trying to get free Wi-Fi off of Microsoft, google, or apple, etc.

It depends. Remember https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2007_Boston_Mooninite_panic? You walk around like that at MIT you're likely to get a visit from a SWAT team. (More seriously, I used to hang around MIT in the 90s and don't recall people wearing stuff like this even at the Media Lab.)
