Sorry for another one of these posts but...

Is there any reason to pick a Northwood 3.2/800/512 over a 3.0/800/512? As I continue to upgrade some office machines I see that the 3.0 Northwoods are $50 less than the 3.2's. I'd imagine they'd both OC to about the same speed. Even if the 3.2 is a bit faster, I can't imagine much performance difference. Correct?

You may now return to Conroe salivation and speculation...
 
Agree with you , it doesnt make that much difference.
Every Cpu is different and unique and have there thresholds.
The cores are tested and then boxed after the results. One cpu did slightly better than the other in the tests so it was put in a better box or range.

One is slightly better than the other but the price sometimes doesnt justify it.

Everyone has a different price theyed pay for a certain item, i may pay £20 for something you might pay £30 for the same item.

So dont lose sleep over it. :) They out there to rob us and we have to say thats it no more. ;)
 
Personally, I don't think you'd see $50 worth of difference between the two. You're only looking at maybe a 3.4-3.6Ghz top end speed out of either of them unless they are M0 stepping/30 cappers...then you might get a little more out of it.
